How to play the Yahoo Answer IM game?

So I got an account opened.

How long / what does it take to get to 2nd level?

What should be my play after that?

Should I post link to an affiliate offer direct or will that guarantee my ban? lol

Should I post link to MY webpage? review site than then links to an affiliate link?

I think affiliate links will help you in banning soon

I have been using Yahoo Answers for more than 2 years now and I use my sites links there, so far I never had any trouble with it.

there is a way to do it.
First you need to contribute to Yahoo Community rather than spamming it with links.
My way is that I find 4-5 general questions and then I answer them without any links in those answers.
the 5th or 6th question is my niche related, I try to give detailed answer to that question, then put my site link in there.
As I have many sites, so always put different sites links, and it doesn't seem like I am spamming Yahoo Answers with my sites Link.
When you see the question is closed for voting, then you can go and vote your answer as the best one.
That way , if your answer is chosen best, it will be placed straight after the question and will be easily visible in SERP.

Also if you see questions where you can put links to big organisations, government departments, [such as BBC, Marks and Spencer, Immigration offices etc] you can put those links there in your general answers, So even when Yahoo look at your answers, they would know that you are referring to other's sites and not yours all the time. It will create diversity.

So the best way to go successful with Yahoo Answers is To Contribute and Not Spam, you will go for long with them.

  • Google Yahoo Ansers community guidelines. Interpret the guidelines outlined on that page. If you want to clarify certain community guidelines, Google Yahoo Answers suggestion board and post questions there.

That'd perhaps be the best way you could do to determine the exact things you can and can't do in Yahoo Answers. I'm sure you know asking other marketers about their experience'd most likely give you a wide variety of advice, tips and pieces of info to sift through (especially since the most likely objective of many marketers in using Yahoo Answers is to drive more customers or interested viewers to their sites, which is frowned upon by Yahoo according to their community guidelines), because Yahoo implements manual methods in place to catch posters that violate their community guidelines, and there are various combinations of factors and situations that may or may not result to a poster getting banned, i.e. A poster who violates five of their guidelines may not be reported by other users because the violations don't look obvious, while another poster with high rating who violates just two community guidelines with a new post may be reported by one poster who has a low rating and ends up not getting banned, and a new poster may have violated one guideline and was reported by one user with a high rating and ends up getting banned, among other combinations of these factors and situations.

It varies enormously, according mostly to how competitive your niche is and how frequently your own competitors report your posts there. But there's also quite a bit of pure random luck in it, too, I think.

Sleuth is excellent, especially for people who've never seen it before, but there's no need to write it, because Anthony Shaffer already did that. But acting like a "sleuth" at Yahoo Answers, analyzing everything slowly and carefully, interpreting the evidence as you go along, will also help.

I think it will almost guarantee it, yes. :p

Yes, as long as you're opting in the traffic, of course (no point in trying to make affiliate sales without trying to build a list as well. But clearly not with a squeeze page: that would get you into much the same sort of trouble at YA as a direct affiliate-link.)

I suggest that you include your link in only 10% - 15% of your posts there (this has worked very well for me, over the years, anyway, in several niches). And try to add as much value as you possibly can.

The reality is that what you observe and analyze there yourself (and what you can read here, in other "Yahoo Answers threads", using the search function) will probably be helpful.

If you are in the IM/MMO niche then don't bother with YHA. They are ruthless with it there.

Make sure you're not linking them to a home page but rather a page with information and ANSWERS on the topic you just answered. This looks far less spammy and actually helps to get the link passed around. Be very thorough and helpful on this link!

Nothing is easy here brother......1 person anonymously reported all my asked questions and answer and yahoo banned me without checking my questions.....All my stuff was from internet marketing niche and with no backlinks. I was at level 2 and near to level 3.

Some of the posts above pretty much give you enough information. Just to add a little more - make sure your answers are long, even more than 4-5 sentences. In fact the longer your answer the better it is for it to be credible as well as for it to be visible :-).

From my experience I have noticed, success of Yahoo Answers marketing depends immensely on the niche. You will never get any success in certain niches, no matter how hard you try!

I don't use Yahoo Answers (yet) but I did find an excellent step-by-step guide in the WSO section recently. For seven bucks, I thought it was easily worth it to get all my questions answered.

I'm only linking to it because you may not find it by searching "Yahoo Answers": http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...tep-guide.html (of course, I have no affiliation.)

Would you guys recommend buying $5 Yahoo Answer Level 2 account or $20 Level 3?

The thought of it is attractive but I'm a bit skeptical. But then again, going natural by making your own account and raising that to Level 3 doesn't guarantee you won't get banned unfairly.

If you answer the maximum number of questions you're allowed to answer each day and a handful of them get chosen as best answer, you'll get to level 2 in no time at all. It takes 250 points to get to level 2. You get 100 just for posting the first time. You get 2 points for answering a question and 10 for getting a best answer. You could potentially get to level 2 within 15 answers if you provide good enough answers to the questions...and it really isn't hard to beat a lot of the single sentence answers on there...

I never made a dime off yahoo answers back in the day, but I hit level 4 before I got banned which took me a few months.

Definitely link to a blog article with cloaked affiliate links.
