Email List building, getting users not subscribers.. Help

Ok, so I keep getting "Users" to register on my site, but they are not signing up for my mailing list.

WHAT IN THE WORLD?

I have a big squeeze page with obvious ways to get to the email list and for some reason they are clicking on the "register" link under login/out at the bottom my WP blog side bar.

What?

I have my auto-responder at the top of the WP side bar.

Any link in my sig will get you to my site if you want to check it out. Maybe i'm doing it backwards?

Instead of "sign up" should I say "Register" for the email list?

Another OPT-IN on the side bar at the bottom?

Thanks!

PS.. the autoresponder is DADAmail..

Thanks!

Jeremiah

    I have never heard of the autoresponder you are using. Was this recommended to you or you just thought that it was cheap and would do the job? Can you send test emails out and see that you are receiving them?
    To me the opt-in box does not stand out very clearly. I do not find the blur font in the black table very clear.

    Sue, thank you for the feedback.

    Its an open source auto responder. I screwed around with the autoresponder in HTML to make it fit the sidebar.

    There is another one that a friend of mine is using - List Wire and it is free. He is definitely getting sign ups but I am always unsure how well these services work.

    I made some modifications, do you care to check it out and see if the opt in on the sidebar and the home "squeeze page" looks better?

    Youre getting traffic but no optins?

    The first thing I would do is get rid of the meta sidebar. This will eliminate having people register.

    If you want a killer optin box, let me know. I can help.

      Agree with this. Part of what you are seeing might be people confusing the Register link in the meta widget with your call to register for the ecourse.

      Judging from the spam comment you chose to allow, some of those registering for the blog are link spammers looking for permission to comment.

      Another thing caught my eye, that might have some small effect on peoples' confidence in you. Not only did you allow the spam comment, you only posted the thank you 13 days later. Anyone noticing that might wonder what else you take your time with...

    You might want to check and see the type of traffic flow your getting. Also is your information or articles attracting the viewers.

    Jeremiah, what I noticed is that your optin form doesn't stand out. I had to acutally look for it to find where it was, and the second one below was completely lost to me.

    What worked best for me is a large optin form, with an image to represent the ebook or course the user will receive when subscribing.

    Also, the visitor will get a popup the first time he lands on my site, with the same info, inviting them to subscribe.

    check how it works on these sites:
    I Make Money Online By Telling People How I Make Money Online – John Chow dot Com
    ShoeMoney Internet Marketing Blog – Skills to Pay the Bills

    Those guys know how to get people to subscribe.

    Thanks again! I got the spam comment off... I thought a comment would give credibility. I have so much to learn.

    I'm going to work on my opt in. Dada mail is self hosted on my server and is open source. Double opt in. The dashboard and process works well. The form just looks like junk.

    Allrighty folks, worked on the "landing page" I guess is what you call it.

    I made the sidebar go away, removed the form and replaced it with a button, removed the bad comments,

    What do you think? Any better than before (if you looked at it earlier today)

    your page is hard to read, I don't know where to look. I would add some good eye direction so people know exactly where to look when they land on your page.

    When I do decide to read it, which most people would just leave without opting in, I really don't know what I would be getting, what it would help me do, or why I should want it.

    You need to be celarly letting people know, what you have, and how it will help them, and why would they want to take the time to go through it.

    The page kind of looks unprofessional, then when you click on the button it just looks worse. I would work on the design, the headline, the offer and everything before I sent anymore traffic to that page.

    Hi Nicholasb,

    Thank you for the feedback! I REALLY Appreciate it.

    This site is my very first website and as suck, is a testbed for me to figure this thing out.

    I am going to figure this out... It has to work.

    Ok.. Dada mail looks terrible...

    I want to get the landing page right, then go with Aweber.

    Thanks!

    Ok, thinking more about this... I need to Direct the readers eye.. (thanks again Nicholasb)

    -Good title

    -The problem

    -What would the solution be

    -Provide The Solution by the Opt-in.

    Is that how it basically should work?

    Thanks!

    Why don't you just copy the html in your form
    HTML Code:
     <form action="http://thebrokeaffiliate.com/dadamail/mail.cgi" method="post">
         <input type="hidden" name="list" value="freecourse1">
    Email&nbsp;Address:

        <input type="text" name="email" id="email" value="" />
            <input type="hidden" name="f" id="f_s" value="subscribe" checked="checked" />
            <input type="submit" value="Submit Your Information" class="processing" />
    </form>

    Change also the fonts and the style you are using. I have freebies in rossgifts dot com and have premium on my wso which converts well because I'm using them on solo ads and swapping ads.

    People mostly don't read too much but I can still hook them by using something like this:
    ==> Membership Blueprint

    Since I know that most of the visitors comes to waste, I changed it to:
    ==> FREE Reports and Audios To Make Money Online For Download!

    Kindly observe why both can gain subscribers.
