Hi for the last month we are getting tons of emails to confirm our link submission to this or that directory and I can see that some are being submitted without confirmation. Now the bad part is that we have never submitted anything I guess our competitors trying to hurt us.

Any advice on what to do?

Thanks in advance

Can your competitors even do such a thing? you can try out a software that blocks this kind of emails.

Are you concerned about getting the emails or about being submitted?

Just keep building High Quality PR Links and those will offset the low quality ones. 90% of them won't even effect you either way..

      Thank you for your replies.

If it won't affect my ranking then its fine.

I am trying to create some filters on spamassasin for the emails coz they can be a bit annoying.

I wouldn't believe that they won't affect your rankings adversely just because someone said so. Google created the disavow link tool for a reason. Your site can be penalized for lots of low quality links.

When (or should) your site does get affected, you can probably appeal the issue. I would think they are supportive to ensure their system isn't negatively gamed with others hurting your rank.

Alternatively you can also have those link removed by messaging those web sites however it might be too much time.
