NEWBIE Q - how to automatically update Amazon niche site

Just got my very first website - oh the trials and tribulations. Finally got all my Amazon affiliate stuff sorted - Secret key etc.

However

My site has not been updated since 15th January with stock. It is DVD/Movies site and I though it would do this automatically - but no sign of any new releases on my front page

Any suggestions please? It is a Wordpress site

Thanks in anticipation

Based on what you have posted I am assuming you are using some sort of automated Amazon posting plugin.

Without knowing which one its tough to say but it will be in the settings and if you have set it correctly to post at certain intervals.

I will say this though Based on what you have said your chances of making GOOD money with an automated plugin is very very slim you need to be adding QUALITY ORIGINAL CONTENT and be doing it on a regular basis in order to be able to organically rank for products.

You cannot expect to make money by using an automated plugin since it publishes the same content that is on Amazon you need to make your site unique and the way to do that is by adding your own original content.

Automated plugins have their uses however people seem to think that all they have to d is throw up a wordpress site use an automated plugin and that is it, unfortunately that is not the case anything worthwhile takes some real work and Amazon sites are no different.

    Kickin it on Amazon

People are inherantly lazy so when they see a sales page promising them to set up an Amazon site in 5 minutes using an automated plugin, they jump on it, now its fine to use it to set up the site but you must then start adding your own unique content and THAT is where people fail, and then they wonder why they are not making money with Amazon.

Amazon is so easy to make money if you just take the time to learn how to do it right, its not rocket science, just takes a bit of work.

Thanks for all the comments! I only got the site up late last night and this morning I got my Amazon stuff sorted.

I fully intend to do more than just sit back! I will do Social network marketing, blog and forum posts and learn as I go.

I am using lots of threads on Warrior for information too

However this is my first ever website and I know somewhere in there is a way of ensuring that the content is current.
I have had a good look around on Wordpress Admin (all new to me) and have not found what it is yet.
I was going to write some articles and posts about this week's DVD releases and that was when I realised they were not showing on my site.

If your site is one of those that simply "auto-updates" by scraping Amazon content, I'm afraid you are going to be sorely disappointed, especially if you are relying on organic search traffic.

What was the site supposed to do? Have you added any of your own content?

It really is. There are no true bush-button "auto-pilot" systems that work but man, throwing up an Amazon site and spending an hour or two per day on it is damn-near close.

Just make sure you are targeting keywords/products that you can actually rank for (unless you already have a large social media following that you are going to rely on for traffic). Without traffic, your site will obviously not produce much income.

Targeting newly released movies is going to prove challenging if you hope to score any solid SERP rankings.
