Glad I Made My Own Products!

After studying this board so long I'm glad I paid attention enough to have produced my own products.

I've had a couple of WSOs and ebooks, reports, etc. and have seen how they just keep on selling on auto pilot. I'm not swimming in cash but those extra sales sure come in handy.

I know I need to build a bigger list, get more affiliates etc. and that I'll work on as well as more glamorous looking products. Ramp it up, rinse and repeat.

Having your own product is a plus and if you have others who are promoting for you, that is even better.

When you have your own product, it is always a good idea to recruit as many people to become your affiliates as possible because your income will just grow and grow as more and more people sign up and do the promotions for you.

What you can do is to take every single customer that comes in and make your affiliate program a part of the system or the back office.

Thank you and you are sooooo right. It took me a while to dive in but it was Shane Natan who got me started. I futzed around and then grew more confident. I should have been doing this full time years ago. I'm a cartoonist, illustrator and professional writer and I wasn't fully putting my talent to the test. Every day people like Willie Crawford and the other pros would talk about having your own products. I'm focusing on PLR, ebooks, reports. On any subject. I really need to be somewhere in a studio for six months just cranking out products and making the look real snazzy!

Now that I've learned my lesson I see that creating products is the easy part. Promotion is next but I'm getting promoted to correspondent status on my friend's new site that gets more hits than the NY and LA Times websites. That one link daily is gonna make me for sure.

The beauty of having your own stable of products is that you're building a list of buyers in the process. Create more products, get more affiliates, get more buyers. It works. Congratulations on your success thus far.

You said it! I was missing out on this formula! I was so stupid not to catch on but now I am.

I did a JV with one marketer where I provided the cartoons and illustrations to her reports and stuff and we did well until she fell off the map for some reason. I need to find more marketers that could use toons as that formula did do well.

So I'll be making my own products and working with others on their products because their lists and customers and my lists and customers team up and compliment each other.

What was your fist product? and
How long did it take you to put your first product together and make sales?

Awesome stuff, I have several half produced products...
I get caught up in the have to be perfect or at least better than
where it currently is, which keeps me in research mode and not moving forward.
Great motivation to get a product done and get selling!
I may have some cartoon related projects, not sure if I can PM yet.

Hi Natalie, mine was a PLR pack and it started selling immediately. It didn't break the bank but it continues to push a sale or two now and then which is enough for gas or dinner out. I've had to learn the hard way to focus more. What I'm learning is that if you dress up any good niche people will show up.

At first I was looking at the WSOs that promised everything but the Moon but caught on to them. I looked for the WSOs that emphasized that people had to take action. Then I followed the creators of those WSOs on WF and on their respective websites and then watched as they dispensed wisdom.

Now I understand the dumb stuff I was doing and the smart stuff I should have been doing. This kind of work calls for discipline, talent, communication, and patience. So now is the time to be creative, pick niches to exploit and produce and promote.

Congrats on your success and creating your own products. Building your own products is the true way to a passive income lifestyle. Once you are the creator of a product, you can have other people build your list FOR YOU. Congrats.

Here is an easy way to make your own product. If you have a blog you are already half way there. Start with a blog or write articles on a specific niche. Then when you have enough blog entries or articles combine those into an ebook. And there you go, instant own product from what you were already doing anyway. Then take those articles or blog posts and turn them into videos or PowerPoint slideshows. Instant product #2. The best thing is of course if you can pick up affiliates to sell your product. For instance if I had a product at $200 and I sell 1 per year I would make $200, if though I could sign on 200 affiliates at 50% share and each one of those affiliates only sold 1 product per year I would make $20,000 for the year. So, your own product and affiliates is the way to go.

Oh you're making my day. Those are numbers you can't argue with. That is if you can get enough affiliates with that selling power.

"howtogurus" really made a point. It's about math. With billions of potential customers reaching them by acquiring affiliates is a must do thing. Just one successful campaign can bring in enough money to keep the wolves off the door for quite a while. If you're able to team up with someone who is knowledgeable in IM then all the better. It's about solid products, good hype, expansive reach and good administrative skills.

Hey, congrats for the big step toward the further world of IM. Just keep on, keep on. Always remember to rinse and repeat the process that you've learn so far. Don't let trivial matter stress you out. If things start to get heavy, It is better to start things slower but sure.

Excellent! I have to remember to rinse and repeat. I've got to JV some too. So many IMers have specialized skills that meetings of minds can turn out great products and opportunities.

You said it. I repeat that I should have been doing more of this years ago but was confused and too cautious.

Tell me more about your affiliate websites. It sounds like you've got yourself covered from each end.

I'm giving myself two months to whip up some products but won't go the WSO route except with a few of them same with Clickbank as the costs might be too high at first. JVZoo will be where I start. I have a bunch of affiliates there and I didn't even advertise. They just scouted around, found my stuff and started selling.

Doing things on a gradient but have to make the products useful and look good. My other major advantage is that I work in the news industry and the news sites I correspond for get traffic that would scare most webmasters but we don't do IM on them. I'll be the first and after I show profits we'll definitely have an IM venue. I can get traffic from our news sites to my news site to my IM focused sites. Might take out ad space for you guys. When we have a hot story you can get like 100,000 hits a minute for hours on end. Blowing servers outta the water. On average we can get 10k hits a day. So I'll be looking forward to that.

JVZoo isn't that bad at all. It's like doing a WSO. The difference is that you get affiliates who pile in and if you're lucky you'll get those affiliates who are really on their A Game and can make sales like crazy for you. You have to listen to the pros and gurus here. Go to their webinars, get their courses that are fine tuned for product development. Not only that but you should always check the sigs of the pros. They may change often but there are gems all over the place.

I also made my first product by accident. In fact I had a free membership site which was attacked by spammers and it was taking me a lot of time to manage the pending applications queue everyday and then also monitor and moderate/ban bad content/users.
So, since I wanted to free up some time and didn't want to close the site I made it a pay to post site, of course the activity went down immediatly, but existing (and new) members started to take me on my offer and bought the right to post.
At first I made it $12 a year but after a few months I increased it to $24 per year because at $12 there was still too many people taking it.
Now after 2 years, I still get the $12 and $24 renewal and new membership (also of course some people cnacel their membership, but many more simply don't)
So I get very often some payments, $12 and $24 from the years before and from the new ones also.

That was my first product, really an accident, thank you spammers :-)

Yes, and the part I left out in my first message is that I've also made a second option:
        option 1: $24 for a year
        option 2: $8 for a month

And guess what? Some people take the option 2 and are paying month after month, whereas in only 3 months they've paid already a full year..
It makes no sense, but people can do what they want with their money, personally I don't think I'd even buy a yearly membership, I prefer to post on my own web properties for free :-)

Thanks Emily! I'll be sharing what I can here on WF to give back. I've got more miles to cover but with all the great tips I'm getting it's really looking good. Good job man! As much as I love promoting kick ass products as an affiliate, you're not in the drivers seat. There's too many variables outside of your control when you're an affiliate...

    - You don't control customer support
    - You don't control the sales message
    - You don't control the asset that is being sold
    - Etc, etc, etc.
