Have been scammed by Facebook Fan Page Owner Need Help!

I paid $50 via Paypal to have a popular Facebook fan page to post a status update on their wall and it's been over 24 hours and they still haven't posted it after they said it would be posted within three hours last night. They have ignored my emails and will not respond at all. I paid with Paypal and would like to get a full refund. Also what steps can I take to get this Fanpage shutdown for fraud?

Thing is he posted my ad before a couple weeks ago no problem and I went to do it again because I got a lot of leads out of it and he's not doing what I paid for.

Also bear in mind that this might just be a case of the fanpage owner having an issue in their personal life. We are all real people, it happens. And if that is the case then it may take them longer than 24 hours to get back to you.

You'll more than likely get your money back so don't worry about it. I'm inclined to think that if he has delivered before then there might be more to it than him scamming you.

        Good luck with it.

It was the fact that he kept posting status updates during this time that pissed me off.

Oh my gee! Stuffs like this gets complicated as time goes by. Have you checked if the page was even legit? If they are, there's nothing you can do but to keep on calling/contacting them about your paid post. $50 may not be a lot of money but it's still money so to speak. Anyway, check for any contact info in that page and start from there.

He actually said on the paypal refund that i didnt give him a reasonable amount
of time to reply to him and there hasnt even been a 12 hour gap between communication and he didnt have internet access since this morning. I waited a full 24 hours before I got serious and went for a refund. And once I requested a refund and sent him an email saying how unprofessional he is he finally decided to contact me back. I sent him 4 emails and he didn't reply to not one of them. I know he has an iPhone so him saying he didn't have internet access was a bunch of bs. It takes 10 seconds to copy and paste a status

No, it isn't. If the person had done what you wanted, you wouldn't have cared about terms. You are mad because you didn't get what you wanted as quickly as you expected. Maybe the other guy was waiting for your paypal payment to clear....

Paypal doesn't guarantee digital services or products so you may - or may not - get a refund.

I'm with you on being burned too many times, and I really hate it when people don't deliver according to the timelines that they've promised, and I'm no stranger to a Paypal dispute but...

If he's previously done a good job and delivered the service, then maybe you were a bit hasty?

I've been on the other side of the fence as well, and I think waiting 24 hours for an explanation is the minimum really, and it seems a bit rough that you're trying to shut his page down... who knows what was really going on?

Not judging by the way, because vendors not communicating in a timely fashion with purchasers is just stupid, even if only because it creates threads like this that can damage your reputation.

@kay king - In my experience, if you say that the product was advertising then you can get a refund... it's considered to be a legit service I guess, and I've had money refunded before by Paypal provided I could show proper evidence of the service to be provided.

Edit: Not sure if Paypal would decide in your favour if the service is against FB ToS... have to assume they probably wouldn't look that deep into it though!

I'm a bit harsh because the person is really cocky cause they have a 600,000 liked Fan Page and growing daily and thinks they shouldn't keep their word.

What you did was against Facebook's terms.

They do not allow paid posting like that. The fan page owner should not have accepted the money but you should also have not paid the money.

You are both at fault. Be careful in trying to get their page shut down because if they tell Facebook you paid them for a post, your account will likely be removed as well.

Hate to say it but since you did receive what you called good leads from the page before... You just burnt a bridge that you can never cross again.

If you had actually given this guy a few days before going ape shite on him, you probably could still be getting good leads from his page.

Sure you got your money back because he took longer than he initially promised. (You also never let him explain what was wrong and why he did not post in 3 hours.) But... you also LOST a good source of leads. Think a little longer before you burn another bridge that you may want to cross again some day. There are only so many quality bridges out there. Once you burn them all down, you are really up sites creek without a paddle.

Just something to seriously think about. Don't jump the gun in business. It can turn around and bite you in the ass.

Sounds like you are letting your ego get in the way of business.

Good leads are hard to find and if you already had good leads from this guy it seems silly to burn the bridge - 24 hours isn't a lot of time and lots of things can happen … family emergency, power outage, internet outage.

I think the mere fact that the guy refunded the money kind of shows that he wasn't trying to rip you off.

    Vince,

I gotta be honest. You come across like a real creep! You paid this same person before and got results. Then when you don't get a reply in 24 hours you open a dispute and you're looking to get this person's fan page closed? You want them kicked off Facebook for doing what you paid them to do?

    Hypocrite much?

BTW, all that guy has to do is respond to the PayPal dispute indicating you bought 'intangible goods/service item' from him and the dispute would be closed in his favor. He also has no moral or legal obligation to refund you - unless delivery terms were specifically stated in whatever imaginary 'contract' the two of you entered into for this status update.

You've probably spent more time fuming and complaining and looking for ways to "get back at him" than you spent waiting for the ad to be posted.

You got the refund - let it go.

Trying to be righteous after the fact and "turn him in" is like a burglar turning in his partner and expecting no one will notice his involvement.
