Should I be doing anything else with my blog posts?

I'm updating my blog on a regular basis and just wondering if there is anything else I can be doing with the posts to drive more traffic to my website.

For example I've seen Fiverr gigs that will submit your blog link to high quality backlinks, directories, and search engines. Just not sure if it's worth trying?

Thanks in advance.

Try engaging in social media marketing, blog commenting, forum marketing, etc. Do everything you can do to market your website. Go above the call of duty.

Here are 5-6 things I do immediately after each blog post

After creating your blog content you can submit each of your blog post URLS to these sites.

      1. Submit your blog post to Onlywire, letting their bookmark sites book mark it.

      2. Social bookmark it with other social bookmark directories (see my list in the resource section)

      3. Use Pingler. This program pings your new blog post to many ping services, letting them know your blog has been updated

      4. Submit some ezinearticle articles, and link your EZA signature to it (EZA can allow 2 signatures in your resource box- so do make one to your squeeze page or site/ and the other to your blog post)

This means you would have to first upload an article on EZA for that blog post and then point the resource link url back to that blog post, but this really has shown a significant increase in my rankings!

See how we can use Ezinearticles to our advantage?

      5. Email your email list this new blog post, so that they are aware that you have updated it.
If you are promoting an affiliate product in this blog post you can get not
only a spike rise in traffic but also some sales too.

      6. After one week, I submit the blog to some nofollow article directories such as Articlesnare, Articlealley, Buzzle, and some others which are available too.

You can do a number of things suggested by others in this thread, but regular updating and pinging seems to work best for me.

    Hi,

I looked at you blog and read a couple of articles. I wanted to leave you a comment but it seems that you have comments turned off??

Actually, posting on forums and giving advice (and you sure have something to offer with respect to presentations), people will get to know you and when you will give a good advice they may even click on your sig link.

Also comment on other people's blogs, especially the ones that have commentluv plugin (in case you are not familiar with that, you will see a commentluv with a little red heart next to it under the comment box). When you comment on such blogs a link to one of your latest posts will be displayed. The people who will see your comments will click (some will) on your link and check your blog. You get exposure to what you are offering.

    Best of luck,

    Dita

I will let the content be indexed on the blog first and I will then repurpose the content into different medium like video, pdf document, podcast and others so that I will be getting more eye view on my content. I always want to make sure that I get as much people to read my content as possible.

If you keep writing content on your blog you will get traffic as long as you don`t put affiliate links in your posts the search engines will send traffic your way.

This isn't even true. I have a blog that's ranked number one on google for a very popular search term, and I have amazon links all over the site. Maybe google will ding you if you have an over abundance of aff links, but they certainly aren't against bloggers making some money.

Lots of other good advice in this thread though. Also make sure you have your feed set up properly so people can be notified when you post new articles.

Whether or not it's worth trying depends mostly on the quality of the posts.

If they're well-written enough to attract already-targeted traffic from other sites, then it can be very well worth trying.

But not through Fiverr: the important thing is to try to think of it in targeted traffic-generation terms, and not in SEO terms (which are typically not worth it, these days, and can even get you penalized for over-optimization, by Google's Penguin update algorithm). For these and other reasons, submission to relevant sites is generally a good thing. (Ezine Articles is also worth trying, although not context-relevant itself, simply because it's a stepping-stone to relevant sites.)

If it helps/interest you, this is what I do with all my blog posts after publishing them on my own site and having them indexed there.

Note that there's a lot of misinformation and misguided/out-of-date advice in this thread. "Buzzle", for example, has allowed no external links at all (not even in a resource-box) for nearly two years now, since changing its entire business model in response to the first of the 2011 Panda updates, so there's no possibility at all of using that for these purposes! But there are also other inappropriate/mistaken comments above, as in all threads of this nature. Be careful by whom you choose to be guided: it is possible, these days, actively to damage your business, by getting this stuff wrong.

Once I completed a new post. I post it up on:

Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Reddit and StumbleUpon.

Then I'll leave comments on about 10 blogs with the new link.

Try to create videos about your blogs, PDF conversions and Web 2.0 account creations and submit your blogs and of course spin them so there will be no duplicate. And ping all sites you have created, bookmark them and also submit to link directories.

Here's the process I use (there's a more advanced version that I teach but this basic version is more than adequate):
      1. Create a video first, talking through what you would normally write about.
      2. Post it to YouTube and then embed it on your blog.
      3. Get the video transcribed and edited into a post. You can use Evernote for free to accomplish this and it's pretty accurate, you'll just need to tidy it up so that it reads like a post. Obviously, once it reads properly then post that to your blog.
      4. Take the audio from the video and turn it into a podcast and post it to iTunes. You can use a free podcast plugin like PodPress (assuming you use Wordpress for your blog).
Using this method gets the same information out to far more people and gives you multiple streams of income.

Another tip: When you've embedded the video on your blog, get LeadPlayer and use it to put an opt-in form at the bottom of your video to increase the growth of your subscriber list... You are building a list, right?

Oh, and obviously, make sure you send the post to your list.

      Peace.
