Slacking, could just be a case of adjusting your mindset. If you really want it then you can get it, But you cant expect people to always be there for you and hold you hand. When times gets tight and you struggle to put money together, then those times really test you

Your story sounds a but like mine.

I signed up for coaching a few weeks ago. Before the trial period ended, I realised that I already knew a lot of the technical stuff and just needed a boot up the backside. So I cancelled.

I'm now focussing on staying focussed.

The trouble with the internet is that it's kind of like school. It's hard to stay studying in the library when your friends are out playing in the playground.

I have to agree. Only you and you alone can change your attitude. Even if your coach is driving you if you do not want to change your attitude you will not be successful. Every time a problem arises you will be looking for excuses - change your mindset.

There is a massive difference between a committed person who is interested. The committed person will not allow any excuse to stop him while the interested will look for excuses why they have not achieved. They will blame everyone but accept the blame themselves.

There are many great coaches online. There are also many students online who like to slack off and they love to blame others for their failures. These students will listen to the advice of their coach but then do something else because they think that they know everything.

Haha, being a slacker won't get you anything in any industry, and definitely will hold you back trying to make money online. At least you realized it though! You figured out what was wrong and you fixed it (I'm assuming) so hopefully this will inspire a lot of the other "slackers" checking out this thread.

Personally, you need to stay focus on whatever technique being taught that suites you best . I mean, you have to be realistic as we only have 24 hours.

        1) If you do not have your daily timetable, you may download it here
        2) Fill in your activities from Monday to Sunday but please be honest so that you can implement them properly.
        3) Print the timetable and make it visible to your family members
        4) Follow your timetable. You can always tweak your schedule accordingly.

      Malcolm,

      You are right and wrong.

Working hard does not bring success.

Working smart does. Yes, you have to take massive action and be consistent but you need to have an effective plan in place that makes things a lot easier and makes sense.

If you're slacking, then you don't have a good enough reason to succeed. Decide what you REALLY want out of life, and don't let anything get in the way of you achieving that. That's a sure fire cure that will eliminate slacking.

The best coach is offline sales /marketing and /or actual entreprenural experience. SuccesS on any level or degree makes the difference.

In the old days what I noticed was that the vast majority of those who made it big had that sort or story and experience to guide their online judgement. Yes, there were the young wizzkids and tech nerd geniuses who would have succeeded anyhow, or those with natural business acumen who also would have succeeded anyhow.

But for the vast majority offline experience holds the key that no coach can ever give you, unless you have enough money to literally buy success.

I have been very lucky after some disasterous experiences in the past decade that almost destroyed me . I did not have enough to buy online success, and what I had I SPENT FOOLISHLY.

Now is a very different story after 6 years away earning my way in the offline world to success that I have brought online.

Coaching is a very small part of it , know what tools to use, what to outsorce, and when to get advice as well as managing your resources effectively, holds the key to success online.

The key lies within you , not with any coach

This would mean that you don't sell anything you don't know about. It is almost like you are saying that selling anything else is ethical if you don't know about it, but IM is unethical. I would suggest to you that a great many people slamming inboxes with offers don't have a clue, but they it anyway. To me that is not fraud. That is taking action and learning as they go.

As long as they brand themselves properly and as a newbie who cares what they sell. It is all about how you market yourself not the products you promote. As long as you do an honest proper pre sell in your swipe then you will have no refund and you will have happy customers.. They don't care if you know about the product. They care that the product is as advertised.

This great insight should make us all feel a lot better about the people in poverty stricken nations who die in factory fires due to their employers locking them in; it is their own damn fault! If they weren't so lazy, the employers wouldn't have to fear that they might take an unauthorized break for some fresh air, during their 12+ hour shifts, in hot, filthy, unventilated conditions.

Don't get me started on all those lazy, good for nothing people dying in drought zones, or all the shiftless layabouts who pick our bananas and coffee for pennies. If only they had a better work ethic, they could be billionaires too!

I don't know if you guys ever heard of him but I paid a coach a lot of money. His name is Claude Diamond. Check him out on youtube if you have a minute. He teaches the GUTS sales system where you basically come across as a no BS kind of person who talks about all the important things up front with no fluff. He also comes across as kind of rude sometimes too and turns people off. But I fired Claude Diamond because he wasn't adding anything to my sales skills. Every time we had a skype chat he would tell me how great GUTS was but not really help me with the issues I wanted to deal with. So if you are considering GUTS, I would recommend not dropping the cash and if you really want to learn it just buy his e book for $30. His personal mentoring won't add anymore than the book.

Why do people keep telling the OP it is his problem, not the coach? He took full responsibility; that was the entire point of the first post. I can understand not reading every post, but people, perhaps you could at least read the first post, not just the thread title when you reply.

I've always thought coaching only works if the coach and student are very much aligned in attitudes and goals. If the coach is a hard charger and the student is too laid back it won't work. Personality matches have much to do with it, imo.

      Hi Craig,

I totally agree with you on all the points here and yes there is a tendency to say " just do it"! As far as I am concerned, I know that I am slacker at times and I should probably investigate this a little further.

As for coaches, I just prefer the term "mentor", even though the meaning is different! I saw how easy you made things for us in the Ghostwriting Cash Course and I wish there could be many coaches like you out there....

Slacking and procrastination are two major hurdles that need to be conquered when you want to get top results and I have been reading about it lately. The points you made are the ones I found in my reading and the hardest bit is probably to find which one prevents you from getting to the level you want! As for me, I know that 60% of my "slackiness" is PURE LAZYNESS! I'll admit to it, so since I know about it, I gotta work on it!!!

Ok, Tiff will be there in a minute kicking up my a***!! So, it's back to work for me! lol

Thanks for your input Craig! Hope all is good in Japan!

You hit the nail on the head with that post. I am so unsure of what I need to do, even after spending a small fortune on WSO. I need a coach to tell me, do this, now do this, and on and on. I have not got the money to afford such coaching though. So I stumble on as best as i can.

    Hi All,

I read most of the posts and the one thing I noticed was missing was -- A REWARD!

As a copywriter SOMETIMES get a dreary product to write about... one that I just can't seem to get my writing engine into high gear on -- THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS...

I am not "JAZZED ABOUT" WHAT I AM WRITING ABOUT!

    So...

When this happens, what I do to stop procrastinating is...
I give myself a "little reward" after I write a page of copy and take a little break and that seems to help. (Especially when I have to write about a boring subject!)

Maybe the problem is you are not "JAZZED ABOUT" what YOU are doing!??

If that is the case.... Then it's NO WONDER you are procrastinating....

One thing I always do to get going (when I don't feel like working) is my old --
"WHEN I GET THIS THING DONE -- THEN I'LL GIVE MYSELF A BIG REWARD SYSTEM!"

So when I finish a long sales letter, I give myself a nice break, like run into town for a latte! Or do a little shopping or go plant some flowers or go for a nice long walk, or anything I like to do!

So why don't you try to do that?

Let's say your work today is:
to write a couple of blog posts, and you just don't feel motivated to do it right now...

Give yourself a little "mini-break" then say, "OK, after this little mini break, I am going to write 1 blog post".

Then I'm going to give myself another little break and get a fresh cup of coffee...

Then, just do that over and over again, and soon all the blog posts will be done!

Now the thing is you don't want to give yourself TOO long a break or reward or you get lost in the reward (i.e. playing video games... ) and then you forget to get any work done!

Another thing that I have found works is to set a simple kitchen timer.

Just set a plain old Kitchen timer, or one of those old hourglass things where you flip them over and the sand drains out. When the sand drains out, then you gotta get back to work, (or when the 10 minute kitchen timer goes off!)

There are plenty of free computer timer software you can download for free to pop up and give you a simple computer break so you don't work too long, those work fine too!

There are a lot of things you could use for a simple reward, so make a list of them and then give yourself a break when you get one of those nasty old jobs done you don't want to do.

This is a trick that works for procrastination problems with all sorts of things people don't like to do, like housework, doing dishes, doing laundry, mowing the lawn, shoveling snow, you name it!

Don't beat yourself up for not getting your work done, if you are not rewarding yourself when you DO get some work done.

Give yourself a pat on the back when you DO get your work done, and then spend some time on the Warrior forum if that is your 'reward'.

    This works for me...

I hope it gives you some food for thought as to WHY you are procrastinating...and how to get the work done your coach tells you to do and so you start enjoy building your business at the same time!

Good luck to all with your businesses.
