Right now, I'm trying to get traffic from forums. It's pretty slow going though. I imagine that with most free traffic generation strategies, it can usually take days of hard work before you start to see any serious results.

But yeah, I prefer forums, because that's where I like to hang out the most.

Link building and social media are the only 2 ways to drive traffic to your website, but there are other parameters as well, to drive traffic to your site you can work on the following points:

#7 - Conduct Keyword Research While Writing Your Posts
#8 - Participate in Social Sharing Communities Like Reddit + StumbleUpon
#9 - Guest Blog (and Accept the Guest Posts of Others)

I like to have traffic from SEO and I like to comment on other blogs in my niche. Usually I set up a Gravatar and go for commentluv blogs. Takes some time, but the traffic is very targeted.

Sign up for their email list and be the first to comment on a high traffic blog, it will pay off in good traffic :-)

If you have the money, I'd suggest solo ads. I tried to go with the free traffic approach for years (blogging, forum, social media, etc.). But I'll tell you... It's an overwhelming amount of work for painfully small, incremental gains over the long term.

If you have the temperament to handle that, then go for it. But most people (including myself) can't endure that much work, for so little gain for that long a stretch of time.

If you have money to spend on solo ads, you can generate on-demand traffic within days with doing little to no work.

As much as I value work ethic, my money works harder than I ever could. When this finally clicked in my head a few months ago, I've seen my lsit grow more in the last 3 months than I have in the last 3 years. All without having to work myself into exhuastion like the old days.

One of the biggest free traffic generation methods today is YouTube. That is of course behind ranking on google And driving organic traffic to your site. You can get movies made on fiverr then write a brief article including your keyword. YouTube videos rank very well and for some are their main source of traffic. I would definitely give this a shot if you haven't already
