Copywriting vs SEO Copywriting - What's the difference?

Hey warriors,

Lately I've been surfing for information on copywriting, because I want to be a copywriter by the end 2013. My confusion came about when I noticed there are a lot of contents on "seo copywriting" alongside "copywriting" articles. So I'm asking you ("you" referring to more experienced internet marketer out there), what is the difference between copywriting and seo copywriting?

    Hello Salman,

Copywriting basically means writing an advertising/selling an opinion or idea etc...
While SEO copywriting means writing the copy of a website so that it reads well for the viewer and features selected keywords, phrases... etc

Hope this clears up your question!

This is the place to ask, Salman, where the copywriters all live (though I can tell you most of the experienced copywriters here will - rightly - raise their eyebrows a little at the idea of "SEO copywriting"): The Copywriting Forum

KennyAmy is right. SEO copywriting involves 2 target audiences: search engines and flesh and blood human readers. I argue that even SEO copywriting should lead to sales. Normally, it should not be a hard or obvious sales push but a deliberate attempt to steer the reader's mind.

    Hey Salman...

I agree with Kenny up to a point.

A professional copywriter can write sales copy and move people to action regardless of the product you are selling.

Seo Copywriting - Is much more then just Seo in fact, and more then just reads well, you can create masterful sales copy for webpage it is by the far the most important part to me since the SEO is really easy to do on page seo and weaving seo into the content of your sales copy, but it is really difficult to master copywriting period ! Dan kennedy is one of the top gurus in this area...

You can make a fortune writing sale copy for major corporations command $10k + for a sales letter then a percentage on all proceeds that come in as a result of your sales letter.

I have done seo for about 5-6 years and copywriting is a fascination of mine as well but a much harder skill to master then SEO in my opinion, and still working on it slowly ...

Terry Dean who is IM GURU ...has been mentioned more then once he is now a top notch copywriter as well for the IM niche...Good Luck !

I do not take it lightly as far as seo copywriting - and anyone that says they know how to do it, because the seo can be poor but if the sales copy is great then I can send traffic there even if my seo sucks and still make sales but if my seo is done great and my copywriting sucks then the seo wont help me when I buy traffic and send it there...;>)
