Investing money in IM

Hi everyone

I really want to earn addional income from IM and I am looking at blogs, website and Squidoo which I am already contributing too.

What I would like to know is: if I had a monthly source of revenue say £200 (I am UK based) to invest in IM how would it be put to good use for making more money?
I was thinking about outsourcing work for articles so I can have more chances of making money from say Squidoo and my own blog in a chosen niche.

Any other ideas would be appreciated as I am new to IM and would like to incorporate some effective ideas for my business niche as well as blogs and website.

Many thanks

Steve

    Hello Steve,

You can always start w/ a webpage that ask for e-mail in return for an ebook that actually HELP people with what they want! Build trust with your list, then recommend them to some affiliate product from clickbank's marketplace (you NEED a clickbank account first!)

At least thats what I currently do. Wish you luck and may you success at IM in the near-future!

Without a doubt... I'd use the money towards list building.

You have to understand that building a buyers list = building a long term asset.

Why outsource article writing to be put on a piece of web property that you don't own? Believe me, I'm speaking from experience. Sure you can have hundreds of articles on sites like squidoo, but what happens when they or Google has update to their algorithm that drops the rankings of those articles? What if Squidoo goes loco on their quality control guidelines of their articles? What if they site shuts down all together.

I don't want to come off as doom and gloom. But I'm trying to make the point that going that route means building your business on sand.

When you build a list, you own the media and you have more control over your business and more importantly, your financial future.

I know what you mean about Squidoo. I have 6 lenses with 4 in tier 2 but the rankings go up and down continuously and it's frustrating as my top lens was recently at 14,000 the. Shot back down to 24,000 in a day.

I keep seeing list building is a good way. I have started doing this with some EBAY buyers as you can collect their emails form the Paypal payments I sell to them monthly with CDs as I am in the music business and that is how I make £200 per month. I just want to make more and I am willing to invest the revenue.

I would suggest starting a blog in a niche you are passionate about, writing high quality unique content, and building a list. Then you can try to make money through affiliate offers or even adsense.

Investment #1) Domain name and hosting (less than $15 per month).

Investment #2) Autoresponder ($20+ per month, depending on how many subscribers you have).

Investment #3) Solo Ads (Various, depending on how much you have to spend and what kind of results you want to get).

First, you want to set up a squeeze page offering a free report, or better still, a newsletter and a free report as a sign up bonus. Promote your squeeze page by purchasing solo ads in other newsletters in your niche. Then, you'll want to focus on building a relationship with your list by giving them a combination of high quality information and useful product recommendations.

You can monetize it all with affiliate products or with products that you made yourself.

I'm not terribly experienced with listbuilding, so I'm afraid I can't get more specific than that. Someone with more experience can fill in the blanks, I'm sure.

    Hope that helps!

I agree with this. If you have a decent website you can pay to drive traffic to it and get good results.

Get your visitors onto your mailing list and then you'll grow a solid long term investment over time.

Obviously you need to spend money to make money but I wouldn't waste it on Squidoo because you might start making money from them then suddenly Squidoo decides they don't like what you are doing and remove your lenses, all your hard work and effort gone over night. Happens all the time.

Whatever you do, do it on your own website and domain, self hosted, that you control not someone else. It means the power is in your hands.

This. It's much better to focus on owning your own website and hosting, that way you will be in control and not some other entity.

But he's right, it DOES take money to make money.
