What browser do you like?

My favorite browser will probably always be Firefox (love the different addons!!), but it seems the last few years it's had it's problems. So I switched to chrome but it's getting to where Shockwave flash crashes continuously and it's a pain to have to reload each page.

I would love to go back to Firefox, but I need a reliable browser that won't keep crashing several times a day.

Anyone have any suggestions? And if you're using Firefox, which version are you using?

Thanks!
Jenny

Same for me, and for the same reasons. Every since Firefox v15, it has become extremely slow and bloated on my machine. I have a dual-core computer with 8GB of Ram on Win7.. it's not a slow computer. Chrome is lightning fast.

Chrome is by far my favorite. Another up and coming browser I really enjoy is Maxthon. I use to be an avid fan of Firefox, but the last couple of years its become heavy and slow.

Chrome is the fastest browser in my experience.

I've had over 8 installed at one time, but Chrome is the fastest. (By fast I mean that Chrome launches the fastest).

I stopped using Chrome many years ago when Windows 7 64 was in its beta, because Chrome didn't function well with Windows 7 64. (There were some flash 64 issues). That killed its momemntum for me and I've used Firefox ever since. (The problem has since been fixed of course).

    PS: For what it's worth, in my opinion people should have these browsers installed;

    FireFox, Chrome, IE.
    Optional: Safari, Opera

A funny thing is, in 15 years I have basically never used IE (exept for testing of course). At first it was Netscape Navigator which I chiefly chose because it was tied together with Netscape mail client, so whenever I got mail, an exclamation mark appeared at the status bar of the browser. Then it was Firefox for a long time, and now I use Opera for quite a while.

Used to use Firefox. Switched to Chrome and never looked back.

Although I have to admit, Flash player does crash a lot. Even Youtube videos crash a lot for me, which is weird. You would think Google would streamline their own video business to work with their browser better than the competition, not worse.

I used to love Firefox, but then I had a major problem with it where every website I went to was being redirected to a movie or adult website. I tried removing and reinstalling it, but it didn't get any better (it actually fixed itself after a few months when I get the newest Firefox version at the time).

In the meantime I started using Safari (yes, I'm a Mac user). While it does have its problems, I've really gotten used to the interface. I find it difficult to use anything else now, so I'd have to say that Safari is my favorite.

I think the problem with them all to a large extent is that they allow you to open many tabs, but don't stop you when the memory gets low.

I think they're both really good browsers. At the moment, I'd say Chrome is faster.

    Internet Exploder - Only kidding.

Also the more add-ons you add to your browser, the less memory it has available, then opening extra tabs, uses up a ton of memory. The temptation is to have loads of add-ins, but if you don't use them, then disable them. Once your memory runs out, that's when I'd expect the browser to start exhibiting problems.

Whilst in Chrome, press SHIFT + ESC, and see how much memory each of your extensions is using. You can terminate the extensions from there too if the browser is struggling.

I have 12GB RAM on my machine, and I have to open a hell of a lot of tabs to get it to be unstable, however I don't run a massive number of extension add-ons either. For that feature alone I like Chrome.

Well, Chrome is good for high-end computer because it needs so many memories just to keep one page alive. But its stability and reliability is the best. While Firefox needs to be constantly updated and it will cause trouble for the add-ons who can't keep up with this. The good thing about Firefox is its light memory use and fast browsing.

I'm a big fan of Firefox but do alternate to Chrome once in a while. I do think Firefox likes to use more memory but I usually have 20 tabs opens so I guess that is my fault hah.

If I could make any recommendation is lets ban IE, I know from doing custom designs that it can be very difficult to get things working in IE as easy as it is in Firefox or Chrome.

I use three different browsers... I am a Mac user too.. fwiw

    1) Chrome (Runs awesome on a Mac)
    2) Safari
    3) Seamonkey

Seamonkey is a Mozilla project. Its an HTML editor and a web browser. The browser is similar to Firefox, but it seems to run better for me than Firefox.

Those of you having issues with Firefox you could try out SeaMonkey and see if it works out for you. I mostly use it for the free HTML/WYSIWYG editor.

    Thanks!
