Is BlueSnap safe to use?

I want to use Bluesnap as my my payment processor, but I saw many bad reviews about them. Therefore, I need your opinion about them.

I'm a web designer and want to receive payment through PayPal (most client prefer to pay by PayPal). But, I can't use PayPal to receive payment. So, I'd consider about the processors which could handle this.

I have 2 processors in mind as below:

1- BlueSnap - Less commission fee with only 5% with my rate per transaction.
2- FastSpring - More commission fee with 8.9% + $0.95 per transaction.

Both options could be released fund into Payoneer card. I sale services which won't need affiliate, so I don't use ClickBank because of the maximum fees involved. In addition, 2CO seems to be very hight releasing fund fee, so I would avoid them.

What do think about BlueSnap (formly Plimus) & FastSpring? Which one is better and reliable? In addition, would you have any other recommendation?

Thanks,

RUN

e- junkie has no transaction fees. Definitely give them a try. They've been the market leader in digital products and charge a $5/ mo for 10 products. Their features are amazing which is why I use them myself.

Thanks for your recommendation, but it seems like shopping cart other than payment processor. If I want to receive payment from PayPal, I still need PayPal account. That's not what I need because I can't receive fund through PayPal.

It is indeed. e-Junkie is a shopping cart and/or product delivery system, not a processor at all. It does also work in conjunction with processors other than PayPal, though, including Google Checkout, Authorize.Net, TrialPay, ClickBank and 2CheckOut.

Yup. Do you know if it works for CCs? Definitely would be a plus receiving instant payments to your CC...

I think, in these days of anti-money-laundering regulations, ever-changing banking regulations and so on, the only things you'll get paid to a credit-card are refunds for things you've previously paid for with the same card.

There are debit-card systems, though. PayPal, Payoneer and others ...

No, avoid it. BlueSnap is just Plimus rebranded. It is not reliable and not Internet marketing safe and friendly.

For a similar alternative that will welcome your business I suggest PayGear.com, which lets you use something other than PayPal.

Edit: Times change and I no longer recommend PayGear and wouldn't want anyone finding this old thread to think I recommended the service.

Interesting - need to check PayGear in more detail. I just opened their website and found that they accept Paypal. But unlike Clickbank, looks like you need to give out your Paypal (or another alternative) account ID?

Here is to quote from their website (http://www.paygear.com/contents/vendor/):

All you need to get started is a valid PayPal, Google Checkout, or Authorize.net account. Within just minutes you can be set up and ready to start accepting orders. Then begin recruiting as many affiliates as you like through the PayGear marketplace while we provide all the tracking and the easy-to-use mass pay system.

Is the Paypal required to receive payments from your PayGear account to your bank account? Or is it needed to receive customers paying with Paypal into your Paypal account directly (while PayGear just acts as a shopping cart and nothing else)?

Thanks! But, let's me state out more about my concern.
I can't receive fund in PayPal because my country is not supported currently. Therefore, I need a payment processor which could be able to let me receive payment from my clients through PayPal without me to have PayPal account. Because the majority of the clients are preferred to pay by PayPal other than others payment platforms.

Paygear seems similar to E Junkie in term of money receiving. Because I must have each payment processor accounts in order to receive fund through those payment methods.

In order to get customers pay through PayPal, I still need PayPal account to receive fund. That would not solve my issue. As I mentioned above, currently, I could receive payments by such as Skrill and Payza, or even Google Checkout and Authorize.Net. But, I'd like to receive fund through PayPal as most clients demand.

PayPal is the only option you need tbh. If they have PayZa, they can pay on PayPal (through CC/ DC). Almost all of my customers use PayPal and I offer several payment options. I personally stick with one method of payment so I don't lose track with various payments and spend time withdrawing from multiple sites.

That's the point, because PayPal will be used in order to pay me, the problem is that my PayPal account can't receive fund and only sending money is allow. So that I need the processor like 2CO or BlueSnap to take for me through PayPal, and I get from them through Bank Wire or Payoneer.

My understanding is BlueSnap will not be a solution for you because a couple years ago Plimus switched from being able to process through their PayPal account to needing your own PayPal account to accept PayPal payments. It could be they have recently changed their practice or changed with the new BlueSnap brand.

You may need to partner with someone who can accept PayPal.

I absolutely can and do use Paypal. Just that, I am not their fan, and want to have a REAL alternative at hand. The alternative needs to be such that the customers can pay by the maximum possible modes, certainly cards and Paypal as those are the most popular ones among buyers, and without necessarily bother about where I accept the payments. Honestly, there's no real reason that I must be on the same platform as them, is there? Think payment platform interoperability - just like you receive your phone call even if you are being called from a different telecom operator's network. Just wishing that such payment platform interoperability was more seamless...

So far, the relatively expensive Clickbank seems to be the only one, and that too, not quite giving what I want (for example, invoicing a customer with an agreed-upon amount). Paypal does serve my purpose fully, but I am not comfortable with them in general.

Thank you for considering us as a payment processor. It is true BlueSnap has competitive prices and usually takes less commission then many processors, in comparison to what the platform offers. Being able to sell globally by having a checkout page in 23 languages and 64 currencies to reduce card abandonment increasing sales for the seller.

As kindsvater stated, BlueSnap was formerly Plimus and we are currently in the process of re-branding by offering more subscription services, customization and features, as well as improved service throughout the company. There are many exciting events about to launch and an improved reputation is among them.

Unfortunately, we're unable to process Paypal payments if the merchant does not already have a Paypal account.

I would like to chime in...

I was researching ways to sign-up with Payoneer through one of their white-list partners, and BlueSnap (Plimus) was one of my considerations.

But, after searching for reviews of the company, I didn't find too much positive feedback.

So, I guess I want to know if anyone who reads this, knows of any other viable Payoneer partner company to get a branded debit card from besides Bluesnap?

As an affiliate, I want to be able to get my commissions through the Payoneer card. And also, currently, Paypal is not an option for me. - Actually, why so many folks 'praise' Paypal so much, when they treat most of their 'business owner',etc. customers like crap.

Finally, to the OP, did you get your issues resolved, of which you mentioned in this thread?

Yes, I do use FastSpring now because my customers could pay me by PayPal, and I must not need to have PayPal account.

    I have some follow-up questions.

In terms of starting one's own online business, using 2co, Fastspring, or any similarly great service, what type of business do you recommend that is in the Internet Marketing field? Because as an affiliate, that is where most of my knowledge and experience is in - promoting other folk's products and services.

Also, in case I forgot to ask this, is there any US residents that have experience with the Payoneer card? Because for awhile, I've been having a hard time finding anyone who is, that can help me out.

We've been using Plimus/Bluesnap now for a couple of years, and without problems.
I like that they keep working at modernizations/improvements, unlike Digital River/Share-It we used earlier.
Both companies handle VAT properly, which most order processing services can't do.
Unfortunately Bluesnap recently introduced an additional $75 monthly fee on top of the regular fee for under $2500/month sales (first 3 months free apparently)

I'm not sure about how legit BlueSnap is as a processor but I can tell you that their affiliate reports section isn't the best. If I was looking for somewhere to run a product with an affiliate program, it wouldn't be BlueSnap for that reason alone.

I haven't used BlueSnap personally, but here's a couple of threads with people talking about them:

If you can't accept Paypal, there are other ways through which you can accept payments for your web design business. You could use Google Checkout, 2 Checkout or Amazon Payments if you are based in the U.S. You can see a ist of other alternatives in my eBook below.

Really... I don't know why any affiliate would consider using Bluesnap right now!

There's a heap of reasons, but let me crystallize a couple of them:

      1. Bluesnap recently changed its affiliate terms to allow it to charge affiliates $75 monthly in any month where they generate less than $2500 of sales... Is it me, or does that sound outrageous to you too.

Because of their change in terms, I decided to close my account.
      2. If an affiliate closes their account, Bluesnap will keep earnings for THREE PAYMENT CYCLES after the date of account closure in anticipation of any chargebacks.

In my case, there have been no chargebacks since April - but Bluesnap continues to hold over $700 against possible liabilities. (They were even cheeky enough to suggest that they were concerned that I should not get into debt! Somehow, I doubt that's the real reason for withhoding payments.....)

They will not listen to reason (that chargebacks have been minimal recently and this figure is totally out of all proportion). And they will not accept the alternative - that I provide my credit card details so that they may charge any chargebacks to me when they happen !
I have submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. If any other affiliates find themselves suffering from their recent changes in terms, I suggest you do the same. Hopefully open discussion will save other affiliates from similar aggravation.

I have actually switched to Avangate - so far, payments have been bang on. No stupid reserves. Chargebacks have also reduced significantly (for the same product).

Hope that helps fellow online marketers...

The affiliate reports section of BlueSnap is not so good. It may also not be very legitimate, so maybe it's best if you avoid it.
