Allowed to put these ICONS?

Hey guys, ive seen alot of startups putting Icons on the bottom for trust.

Take a look at https://www.taskrabbit.com/ for example, (not my site) but you can see at the bottom the blogs which wrote about them.

Is it allowed to make this for my site to, even if these blogs didn't write about me?

I mean, this are just pictures. No one can blame me for that, or is this illegal?

Thanks

Why would you want to include those images? There is only one reason why. You want your visitors to believe you have been endorsed by those companies but you have not. That would fall under false/misleading advertising and is just like having fake testimonials on your site.

    I would not do it.

You don't think that deceiving your visitors by representing an endorsement to which you're not entitled would be fraudulent?!

Good to see wholesale fraud still high on the to-do list for newbies lol..

This is like a companion thread to 'Can I legally steal these images!!!11'

    The mind boggles.

As the above said, don't do it.

Doing these kinds of things always comes back to bite you in the ass.

Instead of bothering with that stuff, why not create a really valuable, how-to, education-driven tutorial/s in your niche on that site - the quality of those will give you more credibility than those icons.

Years ago for an Amazon book launch, I extensively surveyed readers and found that almost all of them regarded 'name endorsements' (leaders/celebrities in that niche) as fake and just favour-driven (i.e. you endorse my book and I'll endorse yours). In that case, the most persuasive reviews were by ordinary people in basic prose.

I'll tell you what. Why don't you leave the room, count to 10, turn round, come back in, delete your OP and start again?

Have you any idea what you've just done to your reputation here?
