MetaCafe SERP thumbnail sabotage

I was checking rankings for one of my offline clients for whom I've got dominating the serps for his niche and cities. He has a lot of videos that I put on 3 different sites, one of them being Metacafe.

I was shocked to discover that the video descriptions are on a wiki platform, where every member is an editor and can change every video description. WTF?

I think that must be why something bizarre has happened to the thumbnail photos that show in Google serps. They are pictures not from the video, and they run the gamut from a man on top of a woman, (both clothed) in bed, to a topless woman , to pornography.

I don't know if it's a jealous competitor or a random prank. It's a pretty funny prank in general, but I obviously need to end it.

Does anybody have Metacafe expertise that can help me here?

By the way, I could not find the images from the serps, anywhere on my videos or in my account. The thumbnails for the videos on Metacafe and all from the videos.

The videos were not tampered with either.

I thought I had tracked down where they made the image swaps. On the edit page is a link for THUMBNAILS, but when I clicked it, all I could see for changing thumbnails is a system where you play the video and then click to grab frames. I saw no way to put in images that aren't taken from the videos.

You can revert edits, but it seems that all the edits were mine, made on the text of the descriptions.

I'm waiting on Metacafe to reply to my email.

I went ahead and created new thumbnails, but I have a feeling that's not going to help.

Yes, there are many desperate people around trying to abuse any system they can hack for advantage - you're just a victim of a system with security issues which is getting abused by hackers and spammers.

I don't think there's anything you can do apart from not use that service for your videos.

How is pornography going to bring you less traffic? :-)

It seems like if changes can be made, they can be unmade if I can find out how the person made them.

Deleting the Metacafe account is definitely on my list of options. First I'd try deleting and re posting the videos, but I'd love to learn how it was done so I can just undo it and leave the videos, and then see if the prankster is monitoring it.

I'm hoping it's just a random prankster and not a jealous competitor. I've got the client just killing the competition in a bunch of keywords, with as much as 90% of the page 1 listings when G decides not to run G Places.
