Would this tactic work on Stumbleupon

Just want to throw this idea out there. If you submit a page to Stumbleupon it generates a wrapper around the page which is then hosted on the Stumbleupon domain - here's an example:

Best Superfoods for Weight Loss - StumbleUpon

Let's say for example, the page above is instead a very good landing page with an affiliate link on it, surely it would be an easy tactic to buy lots of links to that URL - knowing that you will be safe, as Stumbleupon is a trusted site and can handle lots of backlinking (I assume) with Google.

So in essence, you should be able to rank highly, get the affiliate page exposed, but will protect your own website against a Google pen.

Do you think this could work?

Keep in mind that google wants high quality and relevant links. Buying lots of cheap links won't help much with SEO or to get you real potential buyers.

Thinking creatively and out of the box is great, but you also need to look for long term stability.

Do you think it would at least get the Stumbleupon page higher up the rankings quicker?
