WP posts only loads header and no content or sidebar? (host monster issue?)

I was just trying to publish a post on my blog and I started noticing some problems.

At first, when I would hit the publish or preview button, the page would just show an empty white page. I would hit publish and it would redirect me to a white page with nothing, so I had to hit the back button to go back to my dashboard.

Then, all of a sudden the publish tab worked and post was published.

Then I went to check the site live, and all of my pages and posts were giving me 404 error. A few minutes later, pages are showing ok, but posts don't show up. The page for posts loads only the header section and no content or sidebar.

Does anyone know whats going on? Is it host problem? Or is it something on my end?....

I did deactivate all plugins, but had nothing to do with it. plus, last night everything was working fine and I didn't change anything (files, etc) since last night.

I am thinking its a database issue or something like that, but I am not techy.

By the way, I am with HostMonster and a few days ago hostmonster was down for 7-8 hours. So that makes me think there may be something wrong on their end.

But I just wanted to see if anyone else having such problem, or if anyone could tell me if there is something wrong on my end (in files, database or something like that).

Thank you in advance.

I'd ask you to check if MySQL was OK, but I imagine that's a bit over your capabilities. Your best bet might be to contact HostMonster and see if their tech support could help you. It sounds like the server you're on is having database connectivity issues.

The wired thing is that a few minutes ago I tried changing the themes to see if it was a theme related issue, but it wasn't. Then, I just tried again and my extra themes work and show the content. So, now it seems like its my main theme has a problem.

That's entirely possible. What website is it? I could check things on my end and report back.

        Hi Lord,
Its Blogstash.com. However, I just changed the theme so the site can function properly since with other themes its working now. I'll activate the troubled theme so you can see it.

It sounds to me like your theme isn't written correctly and there's an issue with the loop. It would be really difficult to troubleshoot the problem without looking at your php code, and it doesn't sound like you have the required knowledge to do that yourself. I'd suggest going with a different theme.

Did you change the theme in any way? If not, I noticed you're using some cache. Your theme files might have been corrupted - try clearing your server cache.

Thank you very much. It seems like you are right. I just cleared the cache and everything is back to normal. lets hope it stays that way.

By the way, do you think I need to do anything else now. I mean, if the files were corrupted and the cache clearing resolved the issue, does that mean, files need to be modified or is that cleared away with the old cache cleared?...

Thanks very mcuh for your help. I really appreciate it.

The corrupted files were the html files the cache plugin created. By clearing and rebuilding the cache, it deleted the old files, and made new ones. You don't need to do anything else if everything is working as expected now.

I think I am going to delete the theme and install a fresh version, as I just recalled editing a a few files a few days ago. Maybe I messed something up there. Thanks.
