Niches where people are already spending tons of money

I've got half a dozen WSOs that I've bought that say - step 1 - pick a niche where people are already spending lots of money.

This may sound like a stupid question, but nobody explains how in the heck to do that. Yes, I know one can go to Amazon and select ' most popular ' and the same thing on Clickbank, but how do you really determine where the money is being spent.

You thoughts will be appreciated.

Health, wealth, and relationships. I'm sure you've heard it before, but those are the 3 things that are on everyone's mind. Look for quality products that solve problems in sub-niches of these big 3 and you should be fine.

That is about it! Those are the biggies. With regards to Amazon, an indicator that there are people buying is the feedback. If there is a fair bit of feedback, then there has been a fair bit of buying that product. Not everyone goes and leaves feedback, most don't. So, even 10 or more ratings indicate significant active sales. using Googles keyword tool is also an indicator. If the competition and bid cost is high, then there is likely buying customers being chased.

There is a lot more then that.

Niches where people are already spending money means, Niches people need/use everyday.

Health and wealth are pretty big but are competitive.

Hear is a list right out of my membership.

Research will go a long way.

This is quite an impressive list :-)
This is far better than any general ideas on the topic. Thank you :-)

Yep, next step is to line up one of these with a typical product offering (digital/informational/physical/service/) and match that to something you have an interest in and are good at.

For example, skincare potential would be in either selling skincare products or some sort of a bizopp/mlm (not my thing, but it's out there) rather than ebooks whereas health/fitness and internet marketing could be informational in terms of what is sold.

Half the battle is the niche, the other half is in lining up your unfair advantage within that niche.

I have always looked at targeting demographics rather than niches, but there are always eager buyers and big spenders within these categories: economics, health, medical, pharmaceuticals, diet and fitness, recipes, financial, real estate, technology, biotechnology, genetics, energy, art, fashion, jewelry, literature, architecture, engineering, history, ancient civilization, hobbies, biography, sociology, education, religion, philosophy, politics, criminology, security, sports, travel, aircraft, space exploration, agriculture, chemistry, physics, astronomy, cosmology, psychology, zoology, ecology, biology, archaeology, geology, oceanography, climatology, meteorology, mythology, occult, astrology, conspiracies, UFOs, and never-ending end of the world predictions.

Focusing on marketing by developing an affinity within specific groups of people who share a commonality of interests can open up a broad spectrum of niches and opportunities for cross-sales.

You don't just want to look for traditional markets where you can find buyers, instead you need to go the next step, and seek out markets full of 'desperate buyers'.

Selling to desperate buyers are the easiest sales you can make, because these are the types of prospects who have their wallets open ready to buy if you can offer the solution they're after. I've been doing it for years.

If you are targeting amazon, with a kindle e-book for example, then by all means rely on their ratings tool. It's a good way to cut your tooth for little cost.

But for the broader market ( that might be a silly statement considering how broad amazon is! ) people are generally willing to spend, where a problem that is difficult to solve, or embarrassing, exists.

Personally, I won't touch adult, infertility, or problems where a life is at stake ( cancer diets for example), but anything else is fair game.

Don't look for the product, look for the buyers. People who are already spending tons of (disposable) money generally fall into two groups:
Deperate Buyers - People with a problem they want solved NOW. Most of the classic health, wealth and relationships niches fall into this group.

Obsessed Buyers - People with a passion and the means to indulge that passion. It could be anything from a hobby to a career path to a lifestyle. Classic examples here would be travel, golf, even dog training.
A "niche" is just a group of people with a common desire, some common characteristics that you can reach to either solve their problem or scratch their itch.

Bottom line is: if you see a lot of products that are being created on such a niche, then there is a lot of money to be made in that niche.

Niches with high gravity products on clickbank is a great start. From that you can figure that weight loss, dating and products dealing with learning how to play a music instrument are obvious examples of very profitable niches. Knitting is not.

Research the Keywords you come up with but the other suggestions are good also but the most important thing is research what interests you. Then research the Keywords first.

    Hi Paul,

Trying to identify "a niche in which people are already spending tons of money" sounds to me like a recipe for finding the most competitive and difficult niches in which most of your potential customers will perhaps already be on many other marketers' lists, and will already know many of the leading products, too? Those are niches I prefer to avoid.

Many of the niches in which the most money changes hands, most regularly, may be the ones in which it's going to be hardest for me to make money.

One of the ways I try to work out whether or not people are spending money in any given niche in which I'm potentially interested is to look carefully, over a period of time, at the Google AdWords ads which show up when searching for what are obviously the niche's main keywords. I look at how many there are, how quickly they "come round again", how long people are advertising for, and so on. If people are continuing to spend money on PPC advertising, then they're making money (and looking at their sites can help, too). I don't find it necessary to use Google's keyword research tool at all, to get a good indication of this.

Justin's and John's posts above (#6 and #9) look very helpful.

I know that just mentioning the word research can really scare a lot of new internet marketers but doing a little keyword research with Google Adwords keyword tool for example is nothing to be afraid of matter of fact is fairly simple but can also give you a big insight into what products or services are being searched for online by different niche markets online. I hope that helps.

    Warm regards,

There's nothing wrong with diving in to the most competitive niches. The best part about them is there is plenty of money to go around for everyone. One of the niches I'm crushing it in is as competitive as they come, but also has a ton of super passionate people who spend money. And it's not the make money online, health, or fitness niche (although I'm in those as well).

But if you're just starting out, which is the case for you, one suggestion to finding a niche to go into is to look at your own life and think about what you either:

    a) Enjoy spending money on regularly
    b) Spend money on regularly whether you like it or not
    c) What your wife spends your money on

That would be a good place to start.
