How to build a email list?

Have a good solid piece of consumable content on your site that people can download (or have a landing page).

Setup:
1. Get an autoresponder account
2. Set up autoresponder emails.
3. Make your download free - the first one. You can have a OTO on the backend if you wish (that requires paypal etc).
4. Add code to site so name and email address can be collected ( I recommend single opt-in).

Marketing:
1. Buy some solo ads in the WF Classifieds
2. Buy some solo ads on safe-swaps.com
3. Use social media if you have a decent following or use search terms and hashtags on twitter related to your download and hit people up when they have the problem you solve.
4. Use linkedin groups
5. Post it on Slideshare - but don't allow the download - add your URL to your download location so you get name & email.
6. Write optimized blog posts - amplify through social channels.
7. Do guest blog posts with your bio linking back to your free resource.
8. Post in the WF (and other forums) with a sig file leading back to your free resource.
9. Do a Youtube video with optimized titles & description with a link back to your download page.
10. Low cost press releases (not great but potentially something).

There are a TON of ways to promote free VALUABLE material.

1. Publish website.
2. Create opt in form.
3. Drive traffic.
4. Capture email addresses.
5. Send email to email list via autoresponder.
6. Profit.

But the real question is how to profit from the list, dontcha think ?

Well starting with end in mind you need a good offer/freebie with links to your good/not so good product/service...

I would guys you're more focused on traffic sources for building a list. However there are theories about the squeeze pages, how to ask for the email, email and name collection vs. just email, etc.

Someone already mentioned a list of good sources but it's gonna depend on the niche. In any event a list of buyers is gonna be golden compared to freeebie seekers and your best bet there is to either launch and sell your own product or buy a solo from a vendor with buyers on their list (ex. ecommerce store selling boat gear. buy a solo from there to sell your "Boat building blueprint guide").

Do some solo ad purchase and use safeswaps to increase the lists.

Remember to direct the visitors to a special page upon opting in that shows your brand/face/video preferably. do not use the standard Aweber thank you page.

There are many ways to build a list but you will want to make sure that you are building a list in a market where there are many relevant products for you to promote. Other warriors have also mention good points on how to your own list of subscribers.

For me personally, I will decide on One traffic generation method that I want to master before learning another new method. This is to avoid information overload so that I will know clearly the things that I need to do.

Focus on giving on values and content to the subscribers and the results shall follow

When you add member area in a site with traffic, you will be have a large list. Make sure that users know that you would send them e-mails, otherwise it won't be fair.
