Creating relevent new content not as easy as I thought

Hello,

I'm building a Wordpress blog that's centered in an area of Pet/dog niche. It is essentially an Amazon review type of blog. I often hear folks in this forum talk about creating fresh and original content for their blog. I want to create post that are helpful and informative for people to read. The problem is that everything related to my category has really been blogged to death. It seems like this is the case with most physical products.

I feel like I did my homework as far as keywords are concerned and feel that with some work I can get some pages ranked high in the serps. It just sucks to feel like all you are doing is regurgitating the same stuff that lots of other people have talked about on numerous websites. Should I just do the best that I can and try to make my blogpost sound as good and as original as possible.

Thanks

I think it depends on your own personal level of interest in the niche.

IMHO: if you picked a niche you are into, then it isn't too hard; but if you picked on you're not really into, then it is. You are, in essence, doing the equivalent of a research project each time you need to write something.

So, do you really love talking about pets and dogs? If there was no blog, is that something you talk about with friends?

Not familiar with that niche, but the way it can work is that you can use other people’s content for ideas, and do your own spin on it.

Writers always have to work on finding their own voice when they speak.

You can say something that has been previously said, but in your own words, style and point/argument.

Or you can put a different spin on it altogether - especially if you’re not happy with points of the “regurgitated" content out there right now.

This. If you had chosen a niche you are passionate about then writing topics wouldn't be hard to do at all. Because there would be many questions in your niche that would need further clarifying and understanding. Perhaps you can ask your website visitors what posts they would be interested in reading about.

Some ways to find relevant content to blog about/ideas

    1. Find some discussion forums around your market, see what topics come up most, what questions are asked...these can often give you enough ideas to blog each day alone

    2. Google News - search for the latest news stories around your keywords - you will get ideas as well as potential new research, studies, or events that you can blog about that would be of interest to your audience

    3. Your own experiences...sprinkle a few of your own stories into the mix (about your own dogs, people you know, etc...)

    4. Tap your affiliate partners - do they have content you can post?

I can see how your idea well feels spent.

How well do you know this niche? Is it easy for you to write in? To get some practice and fill your site up I'd "regurgitate" some of that content for awhile. In the course of doing that you may think of something, in another point of view or from a different angle, that you're not seeing right now.

Give your content your unique voice too. Even the same information with a voice of its own will attract people because it's human and relatable.

If there are any new leaves to overturn you'll find them eventually, but until then I'd keep pumping new posts into the site to beef it up and give people many things to look at and read when they get there. There is usually something someone hasn't thought of yet.

You could say the same about any niche really.

I read somewhere where there are now estimated to be 100,000,000 blogs online now and increasing every day.

So if you think about that, it's going to be real hard to find a 'niche' that's not crowded.

All you can do is to put your own take and personality into the content you create, because, in the end, that's the only point of difference any of us have with any content we might write.

Thanks to everyone for informative replies

Heck, I'll be honest and just say that I really don't like my blog so far. I purchased a theme that looks good but creating a post that will grab the reader and pull them in is not something I have learned. I was planning on buying some books so I could self-educate myself on being a better writer. At the early stages I feel like my only hope to make some sales is to be fortunate enough to get some pages that will rank high in the serps.

      Thanks again

I think the best way to learn to write is to write a lot. After that to write more.

If you need to also get educated in your niche then the best thing to do would be to rewrite the content that's out there until you learn all the things they're posting about by sheer repetition of writing constantly. You'll understand this market much better over time. Once you've written 100 articles about something it tends to stick

As you learn this market you'll also better understand who you're trying to target and what they're looking for in content and headlines. I agree with the passion sentiment since you automatically know your audience and who your ideal visitor is. This is a lot harder if you're taking on a new niche for the first time. And I've said before, the best way to correct that is to write about it a lot and then write more until it becomes second nature.

I can't see why you don't just re-write an article about the subject! in your own words, and it will be as good as new. and if you can't then hiring a writer is the answer.

You can say this about anything, songs, books etc! You need to BRAINSTORM! Get away from your screen and those keyword search engines that I call "SLAVES"! You're brain is far more intelligent and creative than those! Take your niche and draw out branches....then at the end of each branch...find a word that's related to your initial keyword...and push further by creating another branch...and find/ add another word! Your brain is NON-LINEAR and most of us forget to use it correctly! We rely on technology even for easy tasks such as keyword research! You'll be amazed what you find once you've turned your computer work! Let your brain work for a while and you're going to come up with lots of keywords and ideas you never thought of previously! And, it's important to think in terms of "ideas" as well, not just keywords!:

    Good luck

    live your niche.

You want to be all about it, if your in the dog market and didn't blog about the Huge dog show a few days ago your not doing your job properly.

You need to be reading news articles on dogs, other sites, sharing news tips with your readers.

    LIVE YOUR NICHE

You need to talk about it, be about it, if I were to sit down for an hour I could literally come up with 50-100 content ideas.

I'm gonna look for 5 minutes and type some examples

    For example

There may be a possible cure for dog diabetes
Dogs help cheetahs cope with being in captivity
hero dog saved by facebook campaign
Gabe the hero dog names Real American Hero

Alright well that wasn't 5 minutes and if it was my site I would of came up with better titles, but people don't want to sit around and read product reviews make the content interesting engaging, then slip in the occasional product endorsement

    Hope the following helps:

Who Do You Want To Be?

Determine the role you want to take with your information product. You could approach what you do from the perspective of a researcher, an interviewer, an expert based on your own life experiences shameless (plug: I'll be bringing something out on this soon bt since your question is relevant I thought I should mention it ). Just pick WHO you want to be because it'll help focus the rest of your approach.

    Determine Your Structure

By this I mean how you intend to present your informational or educational content to your audience. Will you take a problem and solution approach? A modular approach like is used in training? Just to mention a couple.

Choose A Title That Will Sell Your Stuff

"Duh!" Yeah, it may seem like a "Duh!" moment, but choosing the right title that will SELL is something I see far too many people mess up. They either create a title that doesn't do their product justice or they go in the completely opposite direction and over-hype it like they see done on so many offers that arrive in their inbox.

Anyway, I hope this helps, but do bear in mind that just like all the other people that shared feedback, this is just to get your thinking clearer. You'll need to do more to make things happen, but you're on to a good start with what's in the responses already.

If the market is profitable, there will be competitions and it is unavoidable. One example of the most competitive market is the weight loss market but many people still make good income by starting their business in this market.

This mean that there are already tons of contents in the marketplace but there are people who are still able to create content with their own style in it. The market is big enough to accommodate every people to take their own share of the profit.

The alternative method is to simple just outsource your content creation. I will personally do my own keyword research and I will come out with the content title in advance first before giving the details to the writers.

      Hi Big.....

You have gotten a lot of great information from a lot of different people that have lots more experience than I do....but I will throw in my opinion....

For me, my best content comes when I write as if I was writing an email to a friend. It is very easy and keeps me from embellishing too much. I have found that if I try to "live the niche", I burn out on it too quickly. So I get my inspiration from Amazon.

And this may be obvious to you but it wasn't to me at first.....all the content you could ever need or want can be found in the customer reviews of Amazon products. It's amazing how they will give you all the pros and cons about products along with their real experiences...you said your site was an Amazon review type site so maybe this will help. I am not talking about cutting and pasting this content....that would be bad.....just read several reviews and do a little reporting if that makes sense.

      Good luck with your camaign!

I understand how you feel about writing things that everybody else already wrote, and having to write a new post for your blog all the time.

You already had good suggestions in this thread. I will give you another tip: give your own opinion about what you are writing. Your opinion is unique. Read many different articles about your topic and make a list about what they talked more.

Then, write your article based on your opinion, e.g. you could write about having dogs in apartments, yes or no, and read many different articles about this topic. Then, write an article based on your personal opinion about this matter, simply mentioning the opposite opinion of others.

Look for topics of common interest, and talk about the negative and the positive sides of everything. There are always pros and cons everywhere. People like to read information about controversial opinions and different solutions.

Creating relevent new content not as easy as I thought
    1) All you have to do is go to the top dog forums, and look for threads with thousands of views and at atleast a hundred post's, that way you know it's something people want to talk about.

2)Write the url and topic to atleast 100 of these threads in Microsoft word, and there is what you are going to write about

Optional: Buy a speech to text software like dragon, and use it to write your content, will save you a ton of time.
