I make around $7,500 / month from PPV & POF paid advertising.

$3,000 / month from subscription and service blogs with free advertising. All from industry blogs and some forums.

$2,000 / month from consulting service for non-IM related companies. All word of mouth.

Definitely varies month to month a lot, but that is what's working for me.

Nearly anything can work if you put the time in, but just make sure you focus on sources with volume.

I can give you some tips about off page SEO, this works like magic for new site that barely have any network asset. You can try building back link TO you site, and the longer your web is on the internet, people will create back link FROM your site.
      1. use SEOquake to quickly find the page rank of a RELEVANT site, I strongly recommend to make back link to a site that related with your web, for example when you are in weight loss niche then you should make back link in running site, yoga, health food, muscle exercise site, etc
      2. make a unique comment, don't use lame copy ad or people will get away from your link, also put your link in above, not in the low part

      good luck creating back link!

Well, to be honest, I doubt that anyone would give up their own best method as, the aim with the internet is for people to see what you have to offer, not what anyone else has to offer but, as we all seem to be in the mood for sharing, I reckon that a combination of all of the above works and, it works really well... Some will for some people, some won't.... I live by the 80/20 rule, 80% of your traffic will come from 20% of your activity and 20% of your traffic will come from 80% of your activity... You just need to weed out what really works for you....

I'm with you Neil. People who PAY for traffic know this. Test, Analyze, perfect. You wouldn't just fund an Adwords account, give it $100 a day, plug in a bunch of keywords and let-er-go... You track the results and stop paying for keywords that don't have good ROI. You test new keywords and new ads to see if you can do better.

Same goes for free traffic. If I'm using Facebook, Tumblr and Youtube and they are all giving me free traffic, I still want to track to see which is giving me the MOST free traffic for the LEAST effort and concentrate my efforts there-- Or maybe I can identify WHY one isn't producing and what I might do to improve the return on my time investmenet.

Honestly, for me - nothing works better than youtube and fanpage traffic.

It's easy to build up HUGE trust on both with users, get them into your list - then hit them 3 times without seeming spammy.

The same people see my offers in their inbox, on FB and on Youtube - works out quite well

Paid traffic is definitely the quickest way to start seeing results, for the most part. I think it depends what niche market you're in and what you're promoting...an affiliate offer, a sales page, a blog, a squeeze page etc.

I would say my best traffic method is my IM blog

Not only does my blog generate lots of traffic but i also build other traffic sources
and send that traffic to my blog too

It's not something that you can build up overnight it's more of a long term strategy but it's certainly worth it in the end :-)

  • Hey man,

Marketing techniques vary, and none are one-size fits all.

It really depends upon what type of product/service you are offering.

I have closed 7 major players including giants from the automobile industry, to direct competitors of vodafone, and those clients I got by walking straight into their doors with a hell of a pitch and enthusiasm.

Have had hundreds of video clients for doodle videos which I got simply from networking.

Have sold hundreds of web design, FB marketing packages by JVing with other big players via their websites and offering them affiliate comissions.

And well... as you see it all depends on who your target audience is, how expensive the product is, and many other factors.

If you would like a free of charge 30 - min consultation. PM me for my skype info.

Well, despite the many moaners you find everywhere about this particular traffic source, I have always found Ezinearticles to be quite good. I also rely on blog and forum commenting quite a lot. It's quite worth the effort of getting out there and branding yourself this way.

I never EVER pay attention to backlinks or what they're worth! I trust my instinct, and it works fine! If I see no results after a while -- it was the case with Yahoo answers-- then, I choose something else.

    Hope this helps

Facebook apps work for me. I make viral Facebook apps like quizzes/games/iframes. For example, when someone votes between two winners of a sports match, they are redirected to a page of my choice (usually a relevant offer or squeeze) and a message is posted to their wall so all their friends see. Very viral and relative. Also very compliant with Facebooks T&Cs.

It depend on your niche, but social network works best for me, especially tumblr. Tumblr can boost a targeted traffic because of its tag system from each post. Tumblr user is a people who appreciate good image and they love to share it with their follower, that is the point of using tumblr, discover a good image, then share it to your follower. Imagine yourself working on a specific niche that depend on an image, such as design and art niche, then tumblr will work the best for you.
Here is some tips to gets quality traffic from tumblr.
    1. Tags your post properly, the more detailed the better
    2. Follow the big guys, so you can post a good picture to your fan
    3. Only post good image, and don't post your product excessively

Affiliate Traffic. Affiliates will send you all the traffic you want (and some you may not want) as long as they are making money.

The marketing strategy is "Why pay for traffic yourself when affiliates will pay for it - for you."

I thought that in the internet everyone is in a different country and that the word of mouth factor was only a myth, but to my surprise I saw it working into practice. Everyone has a relative or friend who will learn about the benefits the first user found with your products/services. And everyone has many online friends. It doesn't matter from which part of the globe they are. Messages from online friends indicating something they found and they liked are wonderful ways to get traffic. If you can find a way to be indicated, this is a good method.

Another free traffic generating method that is working for me is the promotion of my Squidoo lenses. I stopped creating lenses and now I'm caring about driving more traffic to each lens and finding various ways to do so. I'm improving my lenses, and this is helping them become more attractive. I added more pictures, more links, I changed a few colors, etc. You have to keep updating your lenses if you want to get traffic from them and you need a pinging tool. I'm driving this traffic to my websites. It works, but the updates are time consuming. Nothing is perfect.

there are so many dang choices and I know it's different for eveyone in every niche

and I think that is why I never get one to really work well for me. I do some of this and some of that, get some traffic here and there ... but I think it's time to stop being the ‘jack of all trades’ and master of none… find the one free traffic method that you will enjoy learning and master that one method... as so many warriors have said in here

now it's just a matter of finding that ONE traffic method and to master by applying the suggested "Goal-Gift" method. I'm going to set 30 day goals with my choice method and after 30 days, if I have been consistent, give myself a pat on the back and a gift and review the results

once I have mastered ONE method, and or discover it is not the right one for my niche, I will move on to the next one.

There are so many people saying youtube, I think that is going to be my one method to start with, then syndicated articles which alexa has me convinced I need to do and do well. Thanks for all the great posts alexa!!

I really do think syndicated articles are the way to go, they seem to work for those that do it "right" and then you are not relying on Google or any third party for traffic.

I agree with the latter statement, but once again, context is key. Video is absolutely going to dominate many niches, but not all. Long-form sales letters still outperform video for many niches. The select few "guru's" I follow, and I really consider these guys the best in the business, are still using long form or have gone back to long form (or a combination).

So while it seems intuitively logical that video is mandatory, it still depends on testing all the typical elements and using what works best for your product/market

      The best traffic technique:
      1. Provide killer, targeted content
      2. distribute your content
      3. empower social media
      4. keep passing "Go" and collect your $200
