How to write a compelling one time offer?

Ok,

I am experimenting with this, what would you say is necessary to write a compelling one time offer? The "deal" I have really is an amazing deal, I just need to know what I need to say to 'convey' that to the potential purchaser, to get them to realize that they should take action right away.

Also, do you have links to any samples on the web of good one time offers (OTO's) that you've seen?

Thanks!

Johnathan

Hi Jonathan, I actually read some stuff online about that kind of thing. I don't quite remember the website, but if you google "how to write good copy" there's some good resources out there. I don't remember everything I read, but the 1 thing I remember that stood out was putting the false time constraint to act now in the offer.

      hi,

      Thanks -- I appreciate that...

Yes, I am aware of that... But I am trying to convey a really good offer (actually price wise it is amazing), but I don't quite understand why it doesn't seem to be converting the way I would expect... I am thinking maybe it's the copy.

I'll be doing my first OTO copy in a week or so, so this topic is of interest to me as well.

Just from my research, and from reading numerous other OTO's over the years, my first thought is that the level of urgency really needs to be ramped up a few notches above your sales letter - but don't go too far. More on that below....

You have the benefit of knowing that your reader has just purchased from you. This tells you two important things:

    1) They have determined that they can trust you enough to give you some of their hard earned money.

    2) The liked what you had to say, and are now in a buying frame of mind.

The way I see it, your #1 job with your OTO is to take advantage of the two items above.

Continue to give your reader additional reasons to trust you. Comfort them by letting them know you are there to help, and to prove that, show that you already have additional materials prepared for them, that will take them even further down the road they have already begun to travel.

But be careful here not to make it TOO urgent.

Personally, I'm turned off by the "You'll never see this offer again!" approach, and much prefer the "You won't see this offer again - AT THIS PRICE."

The first one puts my guard back up immediately and actually causes me to click away from the site.

The second one keeps my guard down .In other words, I now feel like I have some sort of choice in the matter.

I know that even if I choose not to buy now, I'll have another chance later - even if its at a higher price.

But with my guard down, I will usually continue reading instead - and end up buying on that initial OTO anyway.

Just a few of my random thoughts that I will be applying to my own letter. Hope they help.

    ~Mike

      Ahhhhh...

Wait a second... Ok... so the OTO is AFTER they have purchased from you! Ok, I was trying a 'terrific' one time offer before they had even made a purchase (basically saying get this now!)... Hmm... I might have to rethink my strategy a bit
