Why do you do Internet Marketing?

I'm curious to know what drives you to do Internet Marketing.

Is it money, or is it your passion for it?

Something else?

Chime in, this could get really interesting.

I'd just like to get to the point where I'm working for myself, and get out of the "rat race".

I'd like to wake up WHEN I WANT... go WHERE I WANT... and Do WHAT I WANT without having to answer to a "bos".

I'm not sure what everyone else's motivation is... but that's where I hope to be in the next couple years. I'm laying the foundation now with the knowledge that I'm gaining from the WF, and I hope to combine what I learn here with the web design skills that I've developed in the past 9 years or so, and put it all together to take me to that point where I'm "livnig the dream" of working for myself, and not for someone else.

After reading your excellent ebook, that makes sense. I can tell that you're very much into what you're doing. That's why you're doing well.

cuz the internet rocks....you can reach people all over the world for basically free.

Not to mention...make money and make it 24/7...with virtually no employees.

Freedom to do what I want. Plus I really like the idea of doing something once and getting paid for it over and over again. Call me lazy!! Plus I don't make a real good employee. Finally I am an entrepreneur I will always have way more ideas than I can ever do and the net is a perfect place for my creativity.

When I first started it was about the money and working from home but it quickly turned into a passion.

If I wasn't passionate about it I don't think I'd get anywhere. It does take a lot of self discipline to work from home I think.

Money. You need only three things to start Internet Marketing:

    1) A Decent Brain.
    2) Computer Knowledge.
    3) Internet Access.

Nowadays, almost everyone has the above three pre-requisites, thus Internet Marketing.

I mean, its atleast better than working for someone ELSE. You are your own boss, and you can wake up at even 3:00 in the evening and start doing work.

Thanks for all your great responses so far. It's really inspiring to see what makes everyone tick. So far, the two winners are money and freedom, with passion as a close 3rd. Can't go wrong with that combo.

I've gone through a number of stages over the years.

At first, it was the desire to work for myself.

Then I found that I really enjoyed the specific things I was dong.

Then it became about the money for a brief period. That didn't last because I've never been driven by money for long.

Then I floundered around for awhile, not enjoying my work as much as I once did.

In recent months, I've found a new passion in helping and teaching others to be successful using my long, varied background in this business to help others make the right choices and avoid the numerous pitfalls along the way.

From this point forward, I really can't imagine doing anything else online. I love helping people. It's my passion. Everything else flows from there.

    ~Mike

  • I do it because I am always on the internet anyway. I realized that I could make money, instead of just watching youtube videos and updating my myspace page.

I'm here, I might as well make money and do something constructive.

For me it's mostly because I do not get along with "management types". I hate being told what to do and when and how to do it, I hate having something new thrust on me as "top priority" when I haven't finished the last thing that was "top priority", and I really hate being scolded and chastised for taking a short break to poke around online after several hours of intense concentration. Management types really dislike people spending 5 minutes surfing the Internet, but they have no problem with people going out for coffee or out for a smoke several times a day, or yakking for an hour with co-workers, or sitting at their desks merely pretending to work but not actually doing anything. But dare to open up an Internet window and suddenly you're "wasting valuable company time and disrespecting the company!", even though the management types do the same thing every day. Hypocrites! So I want to be self-employed, so I can work for myself and don't have to kowtow to management type hypocrites and constantly feel "not good enough" and constantly feel threatened by the likelihood of being laid off or fired.

The other reason is because even though I have a Master's degree in Computer Science and 25 years of work experience, I can't find a traditional job. Either I'm over-qualified, or don't have the EXACT skills they are looking for, or I don't have all kinds of certifications for this, that and everything else under the sun. I think the REAL reason is age discrimination (since I am 50 years old now), but of course since age discrimination is illegal, they will never admit to that.

It's both - money and passion. My passion is actually writing and it's satisfying that I am able to make that my career.

To make money and because it is the only money-making method that I know that can be fit in on top of my day-job, family, etc responsibilities. Day job salary just isn't cutting it.

Its about the passion for me. I enjoy being my own boss. Being able to created my own income is rush. I don't mind working hard, so why not for myself.

Right now my Internet Marketing adventures are providing me with a great second income. I would love to do it full time but I have to be sure I have developed a solid business plan before dumping the 9-5, in my case its the 6-2 When I do leave there will be no going back.

I like helping product owners make sales, they work so hard on a product and fail to market it properly, I also like helping websites get more traffic, everyone deserves to have an online business to earn extra money or full time income
