Need a US American bank account for Amazon

I currently sell on Amazon UK and want to sell on the US site. I have contacted Amazon and been informed I need a US based bank account. Does anyone know how to get one of these?

You don't need a US bank account, you can get paid by cheque. From what I read online I was expecting to wait weeks for the cheque to arrive, and then another few weeks for it to clear. In reality it's not so bad - my cheques have arrived within 4-5 days, and they clear with the bank in 3 days, sometimes less.

I bank with HSBC btw, and they charge £12 to cash a foreign cheque.

If you don't want to mess about with cheques then Payoneer is your best bet. Basically Amazon will pay directly into your (US) Payoneer account, and then you load the funds onto a prepaid debit card. They take a cut though (1% iirc, plus ATM charges, etc).

      Agreed.

For your kind information: Payoneer will be the best option for you. Because they are providing an US Payment Service for International businessman. You can't apply directly to get it!! The process is to contact with there support after getting an activated payoneer debit card.

Really? That's very strange, Mark. Are you sure that was what they said?!

They certainly don't say that on their website, and it's hard to see why they should care where you deposit a check, once they've printed it?

He may need it for direct deposit.

If I recall correctly, Amazon-wise, the only Amazon-related place where someone from the UK only has the possibility to have his US sales sent as a cheque is if you're a Kindle publisher and you've made sales through the .com portal.

Yes it's 100% correct. I had heard this may be the case so I emailed seller support only to get a reply telling me to ring them. I was then told it has to be a bank based in the States.

I'm in the U.K. and I get cheques from them no problem (not as many as I'd like though)

HSBC may work. They are based in London but we have them in the United States, so you may be able to open an account with them and that may satisfy Amazon.

I wouldn't go with the Payoneer, i looked them up on google, and they seems to have too many complaints, I was interested in using them as a way to pay but not with these ratings

    Hi Guys,

Thank you for recommending Payoneer! Our US Payment Service is an excellent way for non-US residents to receive ACH transfers from US companies such as Amazon, and many others (listed here).

You can also visit these threads on Warrior Forum for feedback on Payoneer:

Payoneer is working fine for me, I'm a UK citizen living in Thailand and get payments to my ATM card that I can use in both countries.
