A whole new ClickBank?

ClickBank has updated their website... ClickBank

ClickBank is also offering some new solutions for vendors and affiliates which includes training as well as hosting your own Vendor/Blog website that integrates with ClickBank. The hosted/website part is called ClickBank Powered... Our Platform | ClickBank

Just curious as to what your feedback was on the new site? As well as the new ClickBank Powered?

To me it really seems that they're moving towards a model where they host the site for vendors instead of Vendors doing it on their own. If you look around as if you're a new vendor then you'll notice that the design takes you down the road of signing up for ClickBank Powered. Which could be good for new vendors who want that option.

I also noticed that you have to be signed in with ClickBank to see the ClickBank Marketplace.

Could see them moving this way. Before Premier status had to be earned but now it looks like you can buy all of the features. Not knocking it though, will be interesting to see how it takes off.

Still on the fence about the new Clickbank... since I usually use my Master account login to track all of the accounts from one place, but that portal now appears to be changed. Any ideas as to where it went? I'm still looking through their FAQ for it, but so far, no luck. -

After speaking with Customer Support, I now have access to the Master Account again, problem was on my end after all...

    Nevermind...

There's actually a lot of changes once you dig in. ClickBank appears to be going into a whole new direction with their ClickBank Powered service.

As a new visitor to ClickBank who has never been there before you wouldn't know you could be a vendor without using ClickBank Powered unless you dug around a LOT to finally see the option 'ClickBank DIY'. Even once you are presented with that option you are still encouraged to use ClickBank Powered unless you are according to ClickBank a "die-hard" do-it-yourselfer.

So I really see ClickBank moving away from the current vendor model over to this new one.

I also found it very hard to just find out where to become an affiliate for free. It seems many of the paths all take you to an opt-in form or a book for $27.

In addition, I have to wonder why the products they are featuring are not their best looking or top sellers, but they're all very small niche books or products.

I will be interested to see how the site changes over the coming weeks and months, and how much they continue to promote the ClickBank Powered service.

That's exactly my point of concern.

If they put too much emphasis on extracting money directly from affiliates and vendors, that could potentially detract from enabling affiliates and vendors from making as many sales (therefore as much money as possible) for both ClickBank and themselves.

Or to put it another way, they Would they prefer to emphasize getting 1% or 2% of new affiliate members to buy a $27 book, or would they prefer to enable as many as possible of the new affiliates to get going free and quickly, and begin making sales.

I realize these things aren't necessarily in conflict, but it's going to be a difficult balance to strike to make sure they continue not to conflict.

I love this angle. I think this appeals to people with the notion that "there is a book in everybody" (and not just ones about making money online or real estate investing, or how to get your ex back ). My guess is that Clickbank wants to tap into the knowledge of everyday people who have expertise, but may not be professional online marketers (yet). If I understand who Clickbank is trying to appeal to with this, I think it's going to end up adding a lot of good products to their marketplace.

I like what Clickbank is doing and their site looks much more trustworthy than it's ever looked.

    It looks way better.

A quick glance shows much more emphasis on offering services to their vendors. I haven't really looked at the site in any detail yet.

This is probably a good thing, especially for smaller vendors - but will the most successful vendors (who probably make the bulk volume of ClickBank's business) really want a ClickBank-hosted solution? I'd imagine, part of the reason that they are successful because they have control & flexibility, and vendors would loathe to lose that.

ClickBank need to walk a couple of tightropes here

First they want to make sure they don't lose flexibility (hopefully they won't). A lot of the things that allowed ClickBank to grow were things that vendors and affiliates discovered and invented, and which ClickBank's system allowed. That "openness" for innovation needs to continue. Yes ClickBank are a multi-million $ company, but a 100,000+ affiliates, and 10,000+ vendors will always be able to come up with and test more innovative ideas than ClickBank themselves.

Secondly, it is a good to offer services to vendors to enable the vendors to sell more (which helps both ClickBank and the vendor, because the transaction fees are ClickBank's bread and butter).... but ClickBank need to be careful about putting to much emphasis on getting extra money out vendors, as I don't imagine fees from vendors will ever be their main source of profit.

I hope they get the balance right.

Yes, it LOOKS good and more professional, but is it delivering enough usability to be helping affiliates and vendors in a professional way? I notice 'Marketplace' has been replaced by 'featured products,' but now there is no search or filter feature to more quickly find products and quickly judge their value as a consumer or marketer.

You can sign in to get this data, but what if you you want to make these decisions prior to signing up, as a newcomer? How come we still can't get a straightforward idea of the refund rates on products? To me, less access or disclosure = less professionalism, regardless of the prettier new template.

  • I just bought it, I'm about to finish a new product so I'll upload it and test drive it.

So far I see is a website DIY system, email lists system but I don't see how to put a domain for my product. I guess I'll just build it and see what URL it's on.

Looks like product activation is now part of this system, you probably have to wait for it still like before.

And also I see media upload so on the first look it might be that you can upload videos on their server. I'll have more in a day or two.

Absolutely! Much more credible look and feel now...

Perception indeed creates reality and I think this makeover has been a long time coming for them with how much business they have transacted.

The whole enchilada package makes sense... Lots of $ left on the table when new info marketers get overwhelmed, so they have rectified that.

I really do miss the 'Marketplace' link on the home page w/o having to log in and feel that gives more exposure to our program.

Going to go through the process of signing up as a new affiliate and see what that is like... Really want potential partners to know that it is indeed free to partner with our program in Clickbank and I hope they aren't over complicating that process for a book add on product.

Pheeeewww... that was quite an undertaking, but I as an infopreneur 'in the works' - there is definitely some expansive marketing fixing to take place over at CB. I was pretty 'impressed'... and 'hopped up' (lol) going over the marketing platform... hell, I'd promote their high end product and gladly nibble on some recurring slices of that pie... it outta be quite fruitful.

I think it's a win/win/win for vendors, affiliates, and CB. So long as the focus doesn't shift in an effort to ween the vendors from the affiliates, whereby CB takes the position to become less welcoming in allowing new affiliates to promote products. Obviously, the platform still relies heavily on its affiliate base, so I doubt we/they (*the affilliates) will suffer any sleep over CB's expansive vision for the future of info-marketing.

At first read of the OP's post, I was a touch concerned if CB began doing all this in-house hosting, auto-responder, marketing breakdowns and evaluations...it could hurt the affiliates. But after reading a good deal of the info (and some aforethought), - I believe this platform will be pretty kick ass and make it easier for all parties to make money, with a greater emphasis on quality control, no doubt.

I'm cool with that, and looking forward to seeing my sales increase exponentially as a result. Hell, I was almost impressed enough to buy their $27 - video serie and guides. I Still might... the sales page was purdy darn tight

    Time will tell...

In other threads we read about people losing control of, or even all of, their sites because the sites are on squid or twitter's blogging system. How do people feel about click bank being both your host and your retailer?

I've been with click bank for nearly 14 years, and do not anticipate going with another retailer or payment system, but I've always had the option to relatively easily do so if I wanted or needed to.

Hi, I've seen it too this morning when I loggued in clickbank that they now offer a monthly subscription to get blog hosting and email service (autoresponder and broadcast) for affiliates and even more for vendors:
CLICKBANK POWERED AUDIENCE BUILDER AND PLATFORM ON FEBRUARY 2013

I think it is a smart move, they are going to earn much more money by providing these services to their existing members and will change their perception. At least they have already in my mind by making that move, compared to just yesterday when I was still under the impression that they were not moving forward, just doing business as usual.

Are you going to buy the subscription either for affiliates or vendors or are you just going to continue as before with your hosting and emailing?
Personally I'm not going to move, but if I was new to all this, yes I would sign up for those integrated packages. At least the audience builder one as an affiliate. But now I'm already engaged/commited with websites and email service (aweber) and I don't feel like moving since I can do the things they offer for $27 a month. But yes it's tempting if it was just 6 months ago when I started more seriously in affiliate marketing, I could have taken it to ease the process.

  • I found the first big problem, the videos can't be with them or Amazon s3 but has to be vimeo or youtube. I'm assuming it's going to have the control bar. Now sure how you can do a long video presentation like the regular optimize press sites, so this right now is starting to look like a big problem.

But I can see they built a huge Cadillac and if you are just starting I think it could work , but I'm not sure if it's going to be the most optimal thing.

Can I ask, how would you protect yourself from affiliates hurting you in SERPs or harming one's brand or ebook?

I'm aware CB is full of sleazy affiliates though I'm surprised you'd want out of there considering it has the biggest affiliates in there (or so I've read).

            Hi,

Firstly, having the most affiliates doesn't mean it's somehow the "best".

Secondly, in all honesty, I think the answer to your question depends heavily on what you're doing. If you're just in it to "churn n burn" and make as much money as possible, with no interest in establishing your brand within your industry, then this won't matter. Let affiliates run amok and blast crap everywhere and hope for the best.

However, if you're trying to do the opposite - that is, building a real asset, an authority site that you're willing to put 10 years into, and you want to protect that, then you'll want to take an entirely different approach.

Have a read of the suggestion that I made below.

Nothing has changed other than the requirement to be logged in to browse the Marketplace.

Login, find the product you want to promote, click "Promote", then "create" and you have your affiliate link.

The new look and feel of the "new" Clickbank is pretty awesome.

I'm interested in their "ClickBank Powered Audience Builder and Platform" and I find that it lacks a lot in details. For instance, can we built multiple sites, how about domain name(s), follow-ups to list and incoming subscriptions among other clarifications.

Does anyone know about existing videos or more elaborate specs?

    Thanks

Yeah, the details are seriously lacking, I agree. I had a tour of the platform and it's very simplistic and basic. They will likely be adding more features and flexibility, but for now I would say it's for beginners who are only looking for the basics.

I think the CB powered is a great idea. It is going to wipe out a lot of the IM products on there but that has been happening already with the color rating. A lot of those products are moving out of CB anyway.

Hopefully it helps a lot of newcomers and saves them money in the long run.

I agree I bought it and it's very very cookie cutter and un-flexible. I have decided not to use it.

I purchased the 27.00 product, it is actually videos on a wordpress site they own. The vids were really good, they are worth the 27.00 plus you have the option to download a pdf version of the videos. I am seriously thinking about going with the powered service.
