One Page Website Cost

As a future small business owner I feel the need to establish a web presence and was wondering what can I expect to pay for a one page website? I don't need lots of bells & whistles, just something that explains what we do & how we do it, has a place for potential clients to sign up for a free consultation & something to address FAQs.

The cost for a one-page website? It depends. Do you need a web page with content? Or just a web page design? If it's just an installation of your WordPress theme and writing a 500-word content for the home/landing page, it may cost you $100 to $150.

There will be follow-up questions to that. Do you also need your content to be SEO'd?
It's either you outsource this to someone who provides web design or VA service. Check out the Warriors For Hire section.
Spot on! When i get a call from a new client i try to get as much info on what they want and then go away and come back with a price.

A recent example of this is two sites i completed last year. Both were similar one page sites. However one of them required extensive jQuery functionality so it doubled in price from the simpler one.

Since I'm completely ignorant as to what goes in to website creation, content & the SEO factor I guess I need to get a little more education on what exactly I need. Thanks for the feedback.

To help everybody out here give you a better estimate can you post a link to a one page site that you would like yours to be similar to?

Could be anywhere from a few hundred bucks to $2k depending on what you need, how much graphic design work has to be done, etc.

    Are you hosting this yourself?

    Does the domain matter?

You can make a free google site or wix.com site.

If you get your own hosting, that will cost some money up front but amoritized over time it's very little. And you can have as many websites as you like with one hosting account.

A domain you can get for under $12 especially if you take the two minutes to google a coupon--you could even get one for $1 or $2.

Wordpress is free and if you use MS Word, you can use Wordpress.

For a one-page site, you should be able to figure it out yourself and get it working for basically just the hosting. I know a lot of these terms probably sound intimidating, but once you go through the process you'll see it's rather straightforward.

If you are going to link other people to your site, rather than get people to type the domain in, consider a wix site. Some of the templates are pretty and professional-looking.

You will get the best results by treating your one page website as an expansion to your current business or an additional method for growing your current customer base and income.

You can throw up a free site with very little content in no time. The problem is that you will never get any traffic to your site. In order to get good results you will need to use the right approach.

Here is a basic 3 step process that can work for anyone wanting to build your first profitable website.

Step 1.) You should develop a business plan for creating your new one page website. This plan should include doing the following things :

+ Market research - To learn more about your online competition. How professional are their sites ?, what type of online marketing are they doing ?, etc, etc...

+ Keyword research - To find good keywords to use for content creation. Content drives traffic to your site and persuades visitors to become subscribers and subscribers become customers.

Step 2.) Marketing and promoting your site on a regular basis. This might involve using classified ads, search engine optimization or paid advertising.

Step 3.) Get all the needed items such as

    * Your own self hosted domain - Namecheap or Godaddy are two good options

    * Hosting account - Hostgator is a good provider.

    * An auto responder for your email subscribers - Aweber, Getresponse, etc, etc

    * website design and configuration

    * website content

To be successful with your one page website you have to treat it like a business asset and invest the time, effort and resources needed to make it attractive to your prospects, competitive and profitable for you.

The cost for a one page website is the same as the cost for a site with hundreds of pages. You need a host and there's no difference in price launching a one page website over one with more pages. If you go with a host like Hostgator, you can launch nearly unlimited domains on one hosting plan.

That being said, brochure type websites are a thing of the past. They're not likely to be very successful at converting visitors to customers. I would consider your company information along with developing useful content (articles) on your industry/niche that would attract traffic.

You can also use it to launch promotions and build a list, which is a good way to build customer loyalty.

What you've described is already more than a simple one page website.

You need to look less at cost and more in terms of what value the site will provide to you and your business. As you've already seen in other replies, people will give you a wide range of replies, but none of that pertains specifically to your needs.

Let me use an example. Let's say that you have two paintings side by side. One was created by a renowned painter with years of experience. This painter knows how to pick colors, create shadows and utilize highlights to bring the scene to life. The other was painted by someone who took a six week course at the local community college. The painter had a good eye and grasped the techniques, but the painting doesn't have the richness of the other one.

To the untrained eye, the one may be "just as good" as the other. Why pay thousands of dollars for the renowned painter's work when the one for fifty bucks is "just as good?"

But, what is the purpose of that purchase? If it's something you plan to hang in your own house for your own enjoyment, and you like that fifty dollar painting, that's fine. If you're happy with it, that's all that matters.

Or, if you plan to hang it in the office to impress an artistic clientele, that fifty dollar painting probably isn't going to cut it. If you plan to hang it in your front lobby to impress a rich clientele, to show them that you get them, that you're like them, that's probably not going to fly. They'll probably recognize a poser several feet away.

The same goes for your business website. If you're just building it for yourself, to keep yourself happy, to give yourself a little ego boost that "woohoo! I have a website," then you're probably fine using someone who will build you a little site for $150.

On the other hand, if you want to build an online asset that will appeal to your customer base, that will accentuate and complement your business and that will help you grow and expand your business, you need to find a person or firm that will take the time to try to understand your business and its potential clientele in order to build a website that is best suited to your particular needs.

So, once you've found that person or firm, you get an estimate from them, and then you'll have a much better idea of what the website cost will be but, more importantly, you'll have someone who will build you a site with value, rather than something that's merely "good enough."

I suggest you surf around the web first and bookmark some sites that show what it is you think might be close to what you want.

Website creation: You need a domain name, hosting, and some content

Content: You can write this yourself or hire someone to do it

SEO: You can do this yourself or hire someone to do it. This will be an ongoing process. You can also skip this and just pay for traffic.

Opt-in form (you mentioned this): You want to look at autoresponder services

There is never really a one page site. At best you might get away with 3 pages .
