Well, you have to find what works for your niche, It is different for each person, really.
But for me, Tumblr is really great for traffic, it helped my latest site go viral a day after it was launched. I hit a new popular trending niche, started a website for it, connected tumblr to my wordpress site using an autocross post plugin to do all the work for me on tumblr.
Here is the different between tumblr traffic with another one:
1. People who love good image is in here
2. People who want to see certain group of image with certain tag is here
3. I can open a new site for free

Wall jacking is when you visit FB pages that are in some way related to your own. You Like the page and leave a comment or two on some of the posts in an attempt to attract folks to your page. Its wise to figure out highly popular FB pages to do this.
Wall jacking is a really great method to attract people to your pages, but to begin with, its much better to have social proof that your page is actually popular. If you don't already have some social proof, then you tend to find that when you try to wall jack, folks will perhaps visit your page/s but they generally will not comment or Like anything.

Get yourself a PLR ebook, one you can change as needed. Give it a hot title. Keep the contents decent. You might want to make a new cover for it. Then put in a few affiliate links. Then load that ebook to the torrent sites. If you do it right it will go viral and you'll make sales.

I found this out when one of my ebooks got stolen and passed all around the Internet. I had a link in there for a $1000 course with a 50% commission. I think I made 6 or 7 sales on that thing. It took me 6 months to figure out what had happened.

Depending on what niche you are in you could get going with a Pinterest business account.

My traffic has doubled since I started using it a few months ago.

Having great re-pinnable images helps!

Social Media is your strongest method to reach a viral state in generating traffic. Back links are your best best to generate targeted traffic at higher volumes. Focus on building 10-20 back links per day. You have some of the largest tools around you, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Craigslist, Forums, Blogs, etc..
