What Should I pay for this ad?

I am talking with the owner of an ezine who wants me to quote him a price for what I would like to pay, however I have absolutely no idea what a fair price is. The details are such:
A side ad on each newsletter that goes out one to two times a month, for a three month trial period. And the newsletter currently goes out to roughly 450 people. So fellow warriors, what would you pay for this?

P.s the niche is stress management if that makes a difference

Well you can buy 100 guaranteed clicks for like $90, so offer him like $20

Would $20 be a fair asking price?

  • I wouldn't pay more than $40. Any idea of his CTR?

Start low this way you will already be at an advantage from the very outset of negotiations.

Does the ezine currently feature any other ads?

If so, there'll be a rate card. If not, with a subscriber base of just 450, I'd be inclined to offer the owner a percentage of sales in return for an endorsement.

No he just implemented the ads feature and i just happened to get in at the right time so I will be the first ad ever featured.

And I might just offer him a percentage of the sales instead for an endorsement. This seems like a better avenue for me

Id be inclined to go in low and negotiate based on what you can buy good quality solo ads for these days. My last solo ad was 150 unique clicks for $60 and got me a 58.7% opt in! Nothing wrong in pointing out your alternatives to him when your pitching your price either!

          Hope that helps buddy!

Try to negotiate a commission of sales?

Yes you need more information to know what to pay like the click through rate and are all the subscribers active. I would start at twenty dollar and see what he comes back to you with. It is a matter or negotiating but you need to know the CTR.
