Do you buy traffic for sites you're about to sell?

One of the things buyers would look for in a site they're looking for at flippa is the number of visitors to your site.

So for those of you who are selling sites, do you buy some traffic to it before selling it?

Never really sold websites, but I know they do it on flippa to beef up the stats with fake traffic.

I have personally never sold one, but i would think that it would be pretty easy to tell if the traffic was not consistent.

If you state that the traffic is paid, then it should not be a problem

You should never buy traffic to a site you are going to sell. That is being dishonest.

I see where most people can expect that buying traffic to a site is unethical. Especially just to boost stats for a sale of a site. BUT, some website make a very good turnover buying traffic. It is their whole business model.

Is buying traffic to fake your stats a good thing? No!

Is setting up a legitimate business that relies on paid traffic a good thing and then selling for a bigger profit? Absolutely

You would have to do it for some time. Only a complete moron would accept two months of high traffic as proof of the average.

Not all purchased traffic is created equal. I have bought ad space and many buy Adwords PPC or a Facebook ad. Sending junk traffic to a site to inflate the numbers is dishonest and a savvy buyer will want to see the referring urls before they buy.
