    They aren't as important, but you won't necessarily be penalised if your content is high quality and unique.

    They do work if the site has relevant content that has rich information....

    But if they are simply another mini site, then it would be a hard time ranking it...

    It still does carry value for two reasons:
    1. Primary if you have a creditable domain exact matching, your domain name will be more prominent to users on the search engines.
    2. U

    However a huge portion of it will depend on how high your bounce rate is (SERIOUSLY this is important, we've seen the difference in our own sites)

    As well as your offsite campaign; don't expect to rank on the first page nowadays with jsut an EMD and no proper optimization.

    Yes it carry some value but not in the amount that it used to. I wouldn't worry too much ab out that though.

    You will not get an automatic boost in the serps simply because you register an exact match domain name. That little trick is gone.

    A review minisite sounds like a "thin affiliate site" to me and if you have not much content on an EMD, that is exactly the type of site Google is looking to penalize.

      Yes it works. But if you have competition, you may not see the gains in serps you would like to see.

      If your competition is weak, then you can easily outrank them with emd and properly designed internal link structure (no need for backlinks).

      On the other hand, if your competitors are active, EMD won't give you any visible gain at this stage.

      If you can get nice and human freidly emd then go for it, you may need those few points later on while fighting for top positions.

      From experiance I can tell you that right now more important is what's going on "around" your site in general (wide perspective) than in "inside and near areas" so to speak. Google become very clever lately

      Before you decide to hit serps you need to know very fu*** well ALL your competitors and their links and their links and on and on...

      Yeah I know, it's nothing new but I you fail to plan this phase correctly you won't make it later on (wasted time...).

      Unless!

      Your subject is fu*** viral and hot that Google will have no other option but give you good serps because of their social signals filters (but still, you have to know "playground" perfectly and plan properly before the battle).

      I'm not expert in SEO. These are just my 2c based on my own experience and IQ (nothing special here..)
