I have a list and it's configured to single opt-in.

The form works as it should.

However upon adding a second form and testing it, it is double opt-in.

Does anyone have a way to overcome this?

Is it for the same list? It really shouldn't do that because the list settings are already set. You've just created another form. Are you sure the first list is single opt in? I've never had this happen to me.

      Yep.

I don't understand it neither since the setting should be universal for all forms related to the list.

Perhaps a question for aweber staff...

This may or may not be what you did. But I had the same thing happen to me. But I tested my form on an "offline" site. And it was double optin. But once it was uploaded it worked properly. Guess aweber does something like that so you don't add people to your own list that way...

It wasn't that but you've made me realize what the problem is.

A new form can't be placed on an alternative URL (other than what's stated in "list settings") otherwise it's marked as suspect and it defaults back to double opt-in.

I always knew this but overlooked it.

      Case closed.

  • Double or single options are for lists not forms on aweber. So go to list settings and set it there the forms will do what the list is set to.

Yeah, I know this. The point is the universal setting in the list options was not applying it to all forms when set to single opt-in.

As mentioned, I'm aware of the reasons for the problem now. It's due to using the form on a different domain than the one specified in the list options.
