I have an info Product, now need to start selling it

Hi,

I am a newbie to internet marketing, although I've read a lot about it and understand how it works, but I haven't worked it myself yet.

I have created an info product in the form of a 30 page PDF, which talks about the problem of hair-fall in men and ways to regrow lost hair. The information has come from my own experiences in battling my hairloss and the information available in the public domain as well.

I understand that it is a big market, there are many sufferers like me.

My basic question is: where do I start in order to start marketing it.

I guess I need a landing/lead capturing page even before I begin selling.

Where do I go from there?

Your help in a step by step approach will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Vineet.

There's a couple things you could do. You could try to sell it on Amazon as a kindle book, you could make a hair loss site and promote your book, you could make a sales page and list it on clickbank so you get affiliates marketing it for you.

You could even do all three, and you probably should, the more places you sell it the better. There are other digital marketplaces you could sell it as well.

I'd also recommend making a youtube video where you talk about your product and then providing a link where they can get it.

    Hey Buddy!

Firstly well done for getting this far and actually creating your OWN product!

My advice would be the following (if you haven't already started this of course)

    Purchase an applicable domain name
    Get Hosting account
Install Wordpress to start a blog on the niche
Get an auto-responder and link it to your blog
Give your product away on your blog for FREE in order to start building a list

I know you are wanting to sell your product in an ideal world, but your from end sales for your first product will be minimal and there's a lot of competition out there on other affiliate platforms for similar things and unless you have a good amount of JV's and affiliates on board you may struggle.

That's not to say you cant have a go at selling it, but you are going to be limited to where due to the niche. For example it's not something you can release as a WSO in the WF with it not being IM based material.

That's why I have suggested the above route. It's all well and good having a landing page leading to a sales page etc, but these are what we call "Static" pages.

They dont interact with your target audience like a blog does and your aim in any niche is get that list going and to start and build a relationship with your blog visitors and your subscribers.

Using a blog gives you a 2 prong attack in that you can drive targetted traffic toyour blog, interact with your visitors via posts and updates, gain trust and a regular following and convert those visitors into loyal subscribers.

Once they are on your list you can then "warm up" that list via further interaction using broadcasts either with content in the email or by broadcasting an announcement for them to go back to the blog to look at some fresh content you have just posted for their benefit.

The more help and value you can give away, the more trust and relationships you will build. The real money you will make is via sales to your list as they will "Know, Like and Trust" you.

So I would be inclined to give this approach a go. It may pain you to GIVE your product away to begin with but trust me it will be worth it in the long run when you start nailing those back end sales with your list.

It's the approach that my mentors have taught me and they are both 7 figure marketers who practice what they preach! Trust me, it works!

Hope that helps buddy! Let me know how you get on or if there is anything else I can do to help ok.

    Best Regards,

    Andy Benson

Well, do pretty much what Andy said.

What I advice you to do first, is get yourself familiar with funnels, conversion rates and affiliates. That's pretty much all you need: an offer, a way to present and deliver that offer, traffic and good conversions rates.

The moving parts is were the details stand. I would suggest outsourcing if you can afford it.

You should go out and do some market research, I STRONGLY suggest that you go out and find where your audience is before doing anything else. Look for forums, social media groups, linkedin groups, yahoo groups, blogs etc... You need to know where your people are before you can develop a site because they will tell you what you need to do. Not literally but find the problems them communities have and build a site around them.

You should be able to sell it on clickbank etc. Building a website for clickbank is pretty easy and you should be able to DIY with some R&D on the web.

Important thing is to bring in some clicks yourself and not expecting too much from the click bank affiliates. DO SEO, create videos etc to bring traffic to your page.

Beautify it with WordPress themes, and if it's low competition (keyword), do some SEO.

    Sorry for saying this.
A newbie will not do well selling his own product. There are lots of ill advices on this.
There are lots of factors to a good selling product such as affiliate marketing, sales page, testimonials, credentials, etc..

Anyway, go ahead to launch it since you are done with it.

Try affiliate marketing for newbie. It works better.

Well, affiliate marketing is a whole new world for newbies. It wasn't for me when I started out.

Perhaps I didn't explain clearly. What I meant is that product creation is more than creating a product. It involve a lot more such as marketing, conversion, etc. as compared to affiliate marketing, there are less scopes involved.

I am a believer in product creation, just that the it might be too handful for newbie.

I would first create a squeeze page and offer say the first 8 pages of your eBook for free to get people to sign up to your list.

Then once the opt in offer then weekly tips and advice that can help them with their hair loss problem. After you do this them promote your eBook and sell it to them for a price.

If it has any public domain in it Amazon Kindle will reject it and it can get your account closed. If you search the forum you'll find many horror stories about this.

    Step-by-step...

1.) Buy a domain w/ relative keywords (ex: Stop-Hair-Loss .com, .net or .info -preferably)

    2.) Get Hosting

3.) Set DNS -Designated Name Servers point domain to hosting server acct (*Especially if hosting with a different host account, which is recommended.)

Example: Buy domain GoDaddy, Buy Hosting from HostGator or whoever!

4.) Upload WordPress (*Either using FTP "FileZilla" or in CPanel "Fantastico")

5.) Choose Free or Paid Theme upload - update & activate theme in WordPress dashboard- I like OptimizePress $97

6.) Create autoresponder account - Create your web form (opt-in) - retrieve code *AWeber (or other mail client) *Costs approx $1 first month, $19 recurring

7.) Build Squeeze Page w/ opt-in using your AWeber or other mail client code

8.) Create Thank-You webpage, redirects to Download page to deliver "report" or whatever you used to get subscribers to opt-in to your list

9.) Build sales page or mini-site detailing & showcasing your product with your buy button - make sure you have a PayPal account or equal, of course!

10.) Optional: host your product on affiliate programs like ClickBank (costs $50, other aff platforms are free, but take % of every sale) - *Basically, you are recruiting salesmen/women or affiliates to promote your book/product for 50 -75% of the cover price

11.) Submit to Kindle publishing... (see site for more details) *Sell on Amazon

12.) Promote using every possible means of getting attention, email marketing, SEO, Social Networks, DOE, EzineArticles, Blogs, Solo Ads, PPC, etc...

13.) Track progress... CTR, Conversion rates, and test marketing strategies, rinse & repeat

14.) Rinse & Repeat - create another product

However, if you are new to setting up websites, understanding autoresponders and email marketing, have little knowledge of SEO, marketing strategies, and all that this task requires...

I agree: You're probably better off getting your feet wet doing some affiliate marketing, and studying how the product creators set up their sales funnels. I intentionally left a great deal of the procedures out, for if I were to show you step-by-step, I'd be selling my own book or membership site, lol.

I think it's great you've taken action and created a product, congrats. Don't quit. If you're relentless like some of use, you can learn everything mentioned above from scratch, I did... and I even gave up for awhile in between learning all that stuff!

Creating an ebook is a small step in a much bigger process to marketing it properly. Since ClickBank has revamped their site, I suggest going over ther and looking into their book for $27. Haven't bought it yet, but I imagine they'd be happy to teach you "How-To" sell your ebook on their platform.

    All the Best,

Thanks a lot friends, really helpful advice.
I guess I'll just have to start somewhere. All roads seem to lead to Rome, I just need to decide which one to take. It does seem like a lot of work, guess one small step at a time is what I need, and a lot of learning the process.
