Twitter Goes Mainstream - Endorsed by Oprah

Get ready for a deluge of new people on Twitter. Today's Oprah is all about Twitter. She joined today and already has well over 100,000 followers.

While Ashton Kutcher beating CNN to 1,000,000 was the big news of the day, news of Oprah joining Twitter has pretty much dominated the remainder of the day.

So, if you've been holding off on joining Twitter, now might be a good time to get in there, especially if you have products or services that may be appealing to the Oprah crowd.

Oprah is going to CRUSH IT.
My guess is that she'll break 1 million followers mark in less than a month

Tip for smart affiliates : follow her, because she'll "help" you out to pick popular offers in CPA networks

Sad, sad day...thank god we have the choice on whom to follow.

I don't really follow celebrities because I don't find any value in following them, but if it expands Twitter, then so be it.

Want to have some fun and see how explosive Twitter is:

Go to this link: Oprah Winfrey (Oprah) on Twitter

Now just keep hitting refresh and see how many people are following Oprah every single second.

It is mind blowing. Everytime I hit refresh there are at least 10 new followers.

jeez... if oprah tried to sell some WSO on her twitter page, she'd probably be richer than bill gates in less than a month! just the traffic alone is mind boggling! imagine what twitter is earning from all those clicks!

She was at around 120,000 just a few hours ago, and now she's close to 220,000. I saw people making predictions that by November or December of this year, she'd have a million followers. Some predicted by May 1st. I think there's a good chance she hits that within a week.

And, everyone is talking about it too. I did a blog post today on it, and I tried to link to other posts and articles covering Oprah on Twitter, and it too was mind-boggling. I ended up linking to over 30 different articles before I went offline earlier today.

You could pick out the smart marketers, though. If you look through my list of links, I think you'll be able to spot the one by a clever marketer. They mentioned Oprah, but quickly turned it into their message, which was a completely different topic!

I would hate to work internet tech support when an ISP goes down and all of a sudden 3000 middle aged women start calling because they can't "send any of those tweet things out".

Twitter has been main stream for awhile. City governments use it to update people on goings on, city council meetings etc.. Weather Alert uses it to alert for bad weather.
State Troopers use it to alert of accidents and hwy closings, construction etc...

Celebrities have been using it for awhile but the main stream news has been actively promoting for last few months I noticed, more than usual...

Twitter is going to have a lot of growing pains for sure. I bet they are getting hammered with buy out offers right now too.

Not really that impressive when you're getting a push from someone with 1,000,000+ followers, plus you have your own TV show, plus you get coverage online, on Twitter and in the news.

I agree - Oprah who promotes anything that might sound good like battery mobile phone chargers, circular letters, ponzi schemes. . . . . When I see those words "As seen on Oprah" I just know there is a good chance it is a con.

Ah, well - there goes the neighbourhood.

She's getting approx 18,000 new followers per hour. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's about 432,000 new followers every 24 hours, at least in the next few days when the iron is still hot.

I can guarantee you that Oprah will get to 1,000,000 in a few weeks.

Look at Ellen Degeneres, she is about to hit that 1,000,000. She now has 919,000,000

Look at the creators of Twitter. Someone like Google will come to them and buy them for a whole lot of money.

I heard there are like 3 guys who "own" it and 25 people who work for them but they are not making any money from this YET.

Yes, I discovered early this morning the rate of followers. I decided to go follow some of her new followers and discovered not only are the majority new to twitter, but that I could not "keep up."

I took video of my findings, and would post what happened that had me cracking up - but the video is too self promotional. You can click on my youtube link on the left if you are interested.

For someone with a free twitter guide and who is promoting a video series on how to use twitter this was a good audience for me to consider.

Am I actually following Oprah? No. I don't think she needs my help.
