Newbie here. I want to send A LOT of emails to small businesses offering my services. Just wondered if its possible to sign up for the 2500 subscribers package with aweber, import 2500 email addresses found with a scraper, send the email, and then delete all 2500 subscribers, then rinse-repeat. This way I will only have to pay $29 a month. Does this sound legit?

Thanks,
David

From the thread's title, I thought at first that it was going to turn out to be one of those "You need to ask Aweber, not Warriors" questions. But not this time.

    The answer is "no".

It isn't possible to import into any reasonable, sensible, autoresponder company's software a list of 2,500 email address found with a "scraper"!! :p

Not if they care about their other customers, their deliverability rates, and the future of their own business, anyway.

No, David. I'll spare you the sarcastic comments about whether or not it's April 1st, today, but there's absolutely nothing "legit" about it, at all. And that's putting it mildly.

To import a list into any autoresponder you have to start by proving to the company that it's your list, and that you're the person to whose list those subscribers opted in. And even then, you'll often need to start by sending only a re-opt-in request, before they'll let you send anything else at all. They have reasons for all of that, and those are the same reasons that you also shouldn't try to do this on your own, with a self-hosted autoresponder: if you try to do it that way, it'll be your hosting, internet connection, domain registration and so on that are all put in jeopardy, instead of theirs.

When i started in 2003, i sent millions of spam scraper emails every month with a safe sender (you can still find it online i think) and yes we made a small fortune but i would not rec going the same road today even with 2500 scraper emails.. Good luck!

Any good autoresponder company will make all leads you import confirm their email address before you can ever send them emails.

Any autoresponder companies that don't make people do this and do allow you to important scraped email addresses would not be worth the time because their deliverability rates would suck big time.

    This is a no no.

Yuck, personally I wouldn't recommend any email marketing using a scraper - and don't forget that some companies have seed emails set to catch out email harvesters & will report you for it.
More importantly though, you could end up with an email scraper reaching lots of people at the same business, or reaching the same person through various email addresses - and either of these scenarios will get people frustrated - this kind of activity is not the way to make friends and influence people...Spam is a crime you know, in many countries! People have gone to prison for it.

If you must do something like this then be very careful, think about cleaning them up manually and making it so that only one email per domain is included, but again I would never recommend sending email to a scraped list.

Have you thought about buying targeted data from a reputable company? Costs money but I would expect that to bring ROI, whereas I wouldn't expect you to get much from a scraped list, unless its a huge list. from 2500 on a scraped list, maybe only a few hundred actual human pairs of eyes will ever read the email, maybe less.

In terms of Aweber - certainly not, you can import but they are VERY strict. Vertical response is much easier for importing email data. I still think with a scraped list you'll have too many dead domains in there & to many generics for any email marketing company to accept, but VR are the least strict that I'm aware of.

I thought that aweber would not allow just to import email addresses and send out broadcasts to them... there was something mentioned that they somehow need to be approved, but not sure how... just read something about this lately...

They have to confirm sign up, which would mean that once you import your list, they all get an email asking them to confirm that they give permission. But, on top of this, Aweber run tests on imported lists, for instance percentage of the list that are generic emails addresses such as info@ and sales@ - and the percentage of the list that are emails on dead domains, which is a tell tale sign that it's not a recent list. The chances of getting a scraped list into Aweber are roughly zero % I'd say.

No you can't do it. You can however try to opt those people into your list and then send out emails to the opt-in list.

How can you say "subscribers" when you just scraped them?
