Wow Youtube is now playing Movies & TV Shows!

I just discovered that Youtube is now playing full length movies and TV shows. I recently read that they were going to do this but I never saw them until now.

Check it out they actually have some pretty cool stuff.

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

LOL, I believe its an add share from what I remember reading. Hold on.

Heres the article clip I read from an online news site (I just went back to get it)

"Although YouTube hasn't emerged as a major marketing vehicle since Google bought the site for $1.76 billion in late 2006, it keeps adding more professional video that traditionally has attracted advertising. In a separate announcement Thursday, YouTube said it had struck a deal to sell ads during full-length movies and TV shows that several major studios are allowing to be played on the Web site."

But that is why we are where we are, to many have said "well its not as bad as (fill in the blank)"

I for one do not believe government knows better.

They DO know better. They're just greedy (or someone else is and is pulling strings).

Playing cath up with hulu, Joost, Google video, and a few others that may (or may not) be entirely legitimate.

My first thought was that it was a positive development, but now I'm not so sure. For the most part, YouTube has that do-it-yourself ethos to it. Yes, I know Google bought it, and that it's a behemoth, but it doesn't have that "corporate feel". I am NOT anti-corporate, but it's nice that there are outlets for the little guy, too. Hopefully this new direction doesn't erode that aspect of it.

    All the best,
    Michael

p.s. Even though I'm not sure if I like it - I AM going there now to see if they offer things the other sites don't.

You're kidding right? After all the mess that happened right when they acquired YouTube, do you really think they would just rip off full length DVD's and show them without permission?

Any news about breaking the 10 minute upload limit for ordinary users, or are the longer shows only for mega-corporate media with deep pockets?

Allowing Youtube to show movies and tv shows with advertisements is a great idea. I don't even own a tv, I usually watch Youtube. I could download torrents, but I don't like to wait around for them. Sites like Youtube woud actually make me watch tv again.
