Increased direct Facebook spam to Fan Pages? Anyone else?

Dear lord, am I the only one getting multiple comments a day on his Facebook page with spam. Random dude "likes" the page then posts some garbage message saying how he was helped by X method or system and points to a page of his (haven't even wanted to click on that crap). The FB profile looks read by the way.

It's been going on for the last 4 weeks; my page is about a hobby and non-spammy or anything like that. It does have a couple of thousand fans and is growing, but my, it's so annoying I'm going to have to close the option of posting comments in the posts.

Anyone else?

Yeah, I have been getting a few lately about weight loss products on my personal development page. I couldn't turn off comments in posts though. Facebook being a social network, it kinda defeats the purpose in having a page in the first place if people can't interact

Yep, I have noticed Facebook Pages getting spammed harder lately. It hasn't been happening to me, but it's been happening to some of my clients.

Like retsced said, though, I don't think turning off comments would be a good idea anyway, since the purpose of Facebook is to encourage interaction.

I would just spend more time moderating it--easier said than done, I know--and maybe consider hiring an inexpensive VA to help.

Yep, agreed about not turning off comments to posts.

I believe this is a response from the blackhat community to Facebook racking down on fake accounts. Basically, the profiles are now made to look real, which makes posting spam easier to pass through in fan pages.

It's so annoying as you have to keep an eye on your pages every day.

Yup, I have several fan pages and they are all getting hit with weight loss spam.

Really annoying. I tag it as spam, ban the user, report the spam to FB and delete the comment - that's about all we can do.
