Pinterest numbers are hard to ignore

After I have seen a few discussions here on Pinterest, and the argument that it is mostly "young, female, well-educated and have disposable income", I tend to think you guys are dismissing a lot of opportunities just because most of you sell "internet marketing" stuff and not tangible hard goods. Well, take note of the traffic and don't discount the audience.

Here is an eye opening factor:
"Pinterest shoppers, on average, spend nearly $170 per session, according to a study by RichRelevance, an e-commerce consultant, which tracked 700 million shopping sessions. In comparison, Facebook shoppers spend $95 per session, while Twitter shoppers spend $70."
You simply must read the article here:

Hmmm-Maybe a "side" business for the stuff you sell on eBay, or through affiliates, or drop shippers, would be easy to get links and pay no advertising (there is none on Pinterest--your image is linked back to your site).

Who is to say, an image with a website address (think--cute puppy with woman--headline says "she enjoys working at home because she has an internet business--OnlineBizMoney.com) or some such. Pin it under a board about pets.

As far as women with "disposable income", how do you think I-ME--got started online?

And one last note, yes I sell to this market and Pinterest give me sales all the time. One of my products is listed in the first 5 spots on Google for its keyword--the next five are Pins from one of my drop ship retailers.! The Pins are ranking, my friends.

Just didn't want anyone to discount a lucrative market and to remind all that times do change. Tomorrow could mean more opportunities to sell to men through Pinterest--so learning how it works and how you might use it may be worth reading the article.
JMHO :-)

I created a Pinterest account about a year ago but am just now putting it to good use and already made a few Amazon sales on my bridal site as a result.

I'm looking forward to see what happens when I fully utilize it.

There are a few "guy Pinterest clones" out there - like Gentlemint and Manteresting - they might be worth looking into for male-dominated type niches.

All the stats look great for Pinterest now and down the road, so I will be sticking with that.

Yeah I read some crazy stats earlier in the week about the number of users Pinterest now has + the number of visitors it's sales it's responsible for. I've always thought that it doesn't really suit most of my niches but maybe a re-think is in order.

I too am shocked at how much traffic can be siphoned from Pinterest. I broke 4,000 visitors from Pinterest to my blog in the last 30 days. Pinterest can drive some serious traffic and it can be targeted if you know what you are doing.

I love Pinterest so I think I may need to create an account specifically for my business. We'll see how well it goes. I know when I started posting my stuff on Reddit my site/YT Channel nearly doubled in traffic.

I don't think that's something you should worry about. Pinterest will give you exposure no matter what your product, well as long as it can be presented into a nice image.

What is the definition of a session? Surely, can't be just one internet setting. That would mean that every time that anyone went to Pinterest they drop 170 bucks!

Good points about using Pinterest as a marketing tool. To date haven't used it, but these threads have opened my eyes to the possibility.
