EMD keyword query ?

It's tough to find product related keywords that have a decent search volume but low competition, so I'm thinking of making sites around the "how to " keywords?
3 questions -

1. Are these close to buyer keywords?
2. Is a search volume of around 400 gs/m decent for me to build a mini site around it? By mini i mean very mini, almost EMD types?
3.And as far as normal product keywords go, if I'm planning on an EMD site with 5-6 posts to begin with, is a search volume of 100-150 gs/m enough?

    Buyer keywords woud depend on what they are searching: "How to buy P90X would be a "yes", "How to download music free", probably not so much.

    As far as ranking in Google, you are only going to get an advantage with an EMD or How to keywords in niches with very low competition.

    Things like: How to make money affiliate marketing, How to lose weight, How to get a bad credit loan are in high competition niches and will face a lot of competition from authority sites. The EMD may not give enough of an SEO boost to compete.

    It still comes down to the specifc niche and keywords.

    In terms of search volume, I think #1 in Google is supposed to get around 45% of the search traffic- so for a 400 gs/m you will see about 180 or 6/day from that.
