Autoresponder: How many times?

So, simple question:

In your experiences, what gets you the best response when it comes to autoresponder series? How many times a week would you send it out?

Cheers,

Tom

No black and white answer it all depends. Here is my rule of thumb. Touch them 7 times over a period of 45 - 60 days.

    Day 0
    Day 2
    Day 7
    Day 14
    Day 21
    Day 28
    Day 45

Did you find those days worked best through testing?

I'm just interested at the moment, looking to launch soon but not quite yet, still getting to grips with the technicalities of autoresponders.

This is not really and ideal process to follow if i'm honest

If it works for you integen then that's cool but it's way too far apart

The most important time to be following up with your subscribes is in the first 5 - 7 days because this is when they are most responsive and also they will be much more focused on finding a solution to their problem in this time frame

Hi Paul - it does work for me but as I stated its not for everyone. Also, I'm a little surprised as they are touched 3 times in the first week. You think they should be emailed more than 3 times in the first week?

My situ is that it is a free download they are receiving - not a product they are buying. Its also coming from an attorney for coaching services.

        What do you suggest?

It really depends on your audience and your offer some potential customers get very annoyed if the emails come to fast and it is a constant sales pitch but if you have a training course with quality training material then you can not send them fast enough. But 7 follow up is a email marketing standard to get the most out of your list. I got a free ebook that can help you out. Just PM me I will send it to you.

Generally, the collective wisdom says that you need to email OFTEN (3-5 times per week), but that you must NOT push your sales more than once every 2-3 or even 4 times. And even then - subtly.

Above all else, it's KEY to have GREAT content. Something YOU would LIKE to read. Great content is THE ONLY way you can build a "relationship" with your list.

Invite questions. Pose dilemmas. Provide solutions. Educate, inform, entertain.

You'll know you're on the right path when your unsubs go down to near-zero. At that point, you're in a perfect position to sell or...erm... recommend.

Content's not the problem for me

It's the technical details I'm ironing out. I want to make sure I get the best set up I can for this site. Then I can start to test a bit later on.

I tend to find if you stick to about the same time, or even the same day like every Monday your readers begin to look for your email on that day since they are expecting it.

I usually do every 2-3 days. Your subscribers will easily forget about you if you don't email them enough.

The sooner, the better... don't wait.

I send an email every 3days.

Why is it better to move fast? Because their buying temperature was high when they subscribed. If you're late, they can turn cold as they get interested in other things.

It really depends, I send prefer having an email go out once a day. I know some people that have a 30 day FollowUp then just repeat it. Of course, this is a lower quality audience

I knew you'd come along with the right link, Alexa

      Cheers all.

It's always good to get as many opinions as possible. I don't know if Alexa will back me up here, but Brits are very "anti-sell" kind of. It's very different writing for the US or UK mindsets, I find.

Luckily, I'll be marketing globally, so won't care about my fellow countrymen

I personally don't use autoresponder series, only the initial opt-in email for one reason. I want my content to stay fresh so I tend to write it myself. Situations change, people change, you always want your content to be relevant and not some follow-up email written months ago that doesn't pertain to what your subscribers want. Ofcourse having a follow-up series is good for automation, but when you automate too much, you leave it open for errors.

This is why i always tell people to make sure they create content in their follows which is ever green

There are some niches where info changes all the time and there are some niches which there are solid strategies that you can use which will still be very relevant, effective and current a year, 2 years from now

there is nothing wrong with creating months of follow ups in advance as long as you are giving out information which is ever green and the info will still be current next year etc

The whole use of an auto-responder is to automate a lot of your business and by not leveraging the automation side of things will make things much harder for you to scale things up and expand your business

I don't worry about how many emails I send out. I send an email when I have something that my subscribers can uses. When I promote a product, I use the same email body message with few changes and a different subject line for 3 days in a row.

With all the filters and mass deletions, I find that I actually make more from the 2nd and 3rd mailings than the 1st.

    I hope this is helpful,

You'll get many different answers to this questions but the
rule of thumb is that the rate should be frequent at first
and then taper off to a constant rate. So for the first
couple days you may send each day and then every other
day and eventually every week. But a lot depend on what
you PROMISED at the time of sign up.
