I findusing a simple html template easier than using wordpress. I know its powerful with all the plugins but I cant get my site to look like I want it to. Besides the search are looking for good content, proper formatting, keyword selection etc . So why can't my simple 5 page html site rank well?

In my experience static html usually outperforms wordpress but we'd need to see it to comment, really.

It can rank but backlinks will have to massive, genuine, and real high PR sites, simple because you dont have enough pages to create a solid internal links structure and good LSI Theme for your site.

It doesn't matter if it's HTML or WordPress. The thing is the fact that it's 5 pages.

A 5 page HTML site will rank just as well as a WordPress site given the same on page SEO, backlink profile, etc.

So...With 5 pages, you'll probably not be able to capture as many people - unless you are VERY specific and/or local.

For example if my site was about: "Dr. Nate Chiropractor Chester VA" and that's what people searched for. Even if it was two pages; if my SEO is correct...I should rank first.

However, if I had 5 pages and people searched for "Chiropractors" - No...I probably wouldn't be in the top 1000 results. Whereas, If I had 100 pages - of good quality content - I may make top 10.

So authority type sites are the only ones that will rank well?

Rankings are page specific - nothing to do with Wordpress, HTML or size. Remember, the output is html anyway, regardless. Googlebots (as far as I know) don't crawl a page and say "Hey this is a WP site, so lets rank it higher".

The answer to your question is "it depends".

As already pointed out, unless you're competing in a very small niche, and trying to rank for a very specific term, such as "Hairdressers in Springfield Lakes", given that your site is only 5 pages, it's not likely that it's going to perform that well in the SE in a broader sense.

The benefits that any content management system has, whether it be Joomla, WP, or a custom one like mine, is the immediacy that it provides in terms of publishing content.

The more content you publish, the more likely it is that people (and search engines) are going to find your stuff.

Infact, I shot a video about this very topic not long ago. Think of your content like a big net. As you publish more content, the net becomes larger. The larger the net, the more fish you're likely to catch.

This question really isn't about "which ranks better", (Wordpress or a static site) but moreso, I think at least, its about search engine performance based upon small scale sites vs large sites with authority.

Oh, and if you're wondering, I would always recommend someone build out a large site with authority over simple 5 page static sites anyday.

But this of course depends on what you're trying to achieve.

I have seen, so many one page HTML sites ranking higher. reason is, higher loading speed + Good links.

however, It's all comes to how your clients going to think about your website, when it has only one simple page.

This question really isn't about "which ranks better" Dynamic Site or Static Site it all about seo friendly templates for website which has low page load time, less page size, Proper use of Css and JS files and attractive design.
