What to do when someone gets your video deleted then uses it for themselves?

So, I had a review video created for a cpa offer back in mid January. The offer did very well last month, but I had forgot to change the password on the youtube account. When I went back to change it, I found that I couldn't get into the account. I wasn't sure why, but the video was still up and doing well, so I just left it alone.

flashforward to today, and I see that my video has disappeared, even though the channel is still there. Then when doing some searching I found that someone else is using my exact video on their account, with the avatar and even the same domain(with an s added to the end of it).

Is there anything I can do about that? Didn't realize that vids can just a vulnerable as niche sites when it comes to getting nuked

Complain to the host site. Just show them proof it's yours. You can also issue a dmca takedown notice to the pirate.

Maybe they posted the video, and they filled a complaint that you copied it. If it was when they first hacked your password, they would have changed it right away, or better, they have used your account so they can profit from your videos awareness.

Sorry, I neglected to mention that the site was Youtube. Is there really a way to report them or am I just SOL?

If you click the link to the video now it says, "This video has been removed by the user."

No idea how the person was able to get into it, unless the original provider of the youtube accounts from fiverr is behind it. Any ideas?

Can you explain that a little more? Are you saying this account that you had the video on was created by a Fiverr gig?

It could be that they reported it as a copyright violation as if it were there's - via google - and won, in which case they would be able to do what you are saying.

How they could win if it was not theirs, I have no idea because when I had to report a copyright violation they required quite a bit of proof that it was mine.

If I were you I would report this theft to google via copyright violation and provide proof as to when you created it, when you posted it etc. and as part of the form they ask you for the info on the violator. If you can prove - like via fiverr receipt, date of posting on youtube etc - that it is your video then you should be able to both get the thief's video taken down and yours put back up.

When I did this (in my case the violator simply had posted my video on his youtube channel but edited out the end of it which had audio of my web site name, and a graphic of that name) it took only about a week.

Chances are Youtube has just removed your video because it broke their terms (for linking directly to a CPA offer maybe?) but before that happened someone had copied it. People copy videos on YT all the time and use them for themselves if not water marked.

How do you watermark a video?

I had about 15 videos on a youtube channel and youtube deleted my entire channel without reason or warning. Or I should say they must have had their reasons but they never warned me about it nor told me what was the reason. They said "read the TOS' - which is very long and covers all kinds of stuff so it really doesn't help you figure out why your channel was deleted when they say "Read our TOS".

Anyway now I have several a-holes who have stolen the videos I CREATED and cut off the end where I had a voice-over or person speaking to the camera and saying the name of my web site. One just left it in and then puts below the video: NOTE THE CHANGE OF WEB SITE ADDRESS. IT IS NOW mywebsite.com...

Anyway, so yeah if I could inexpensively put a water mark on my videos that would be great. Youtube is full of a LOT OF SCUMBAGS, including Google/Youtube itself!
