Why is my sales page not converting?

Hi Warriors,

I have a website (www.codblackops2revealed.com) in which I sell an informative strategy guide for the popular game, Call of Duty: Black Op 2.

I am receiving about 100 visitors a day, but not getting any sales.

I am attempting to get this site ranked for several keywords to bring in more targeted traffic.

Can you tell me what could possibly be the problem besides I need more traffic?

You are selling an ebook on your site. Design is clean. And of course I think you can improve more on:

    1. Add more testimonials. (Currently you are using the testimonial as your big headline, this should be pushed down a bit and write a more decent headline with outstanding font and color)
    2. Need proof (other than testimonials, like video, screenshot etc)
    3. Optin form (it's hard to sell on the first visit especially you are no guru)

    Hope this helps a bit.

Your page looks nice to me and your copy is very well done but I think your pricing is bad. I'd lower the price to 9.95 and see how that works for you.

Your headline is lost in the page.

The headline is THE most important part of your page. If visitors do not see something that grabs out and speaks to them right away, they will leave your page

It seems you have your headline around the wrong way.

The subheadline should be in the small dark text and the main part of the headline should be in nice big red text so it sticks out like a sore thumb and is the first thing the eyes are attracted to when people land on the page.

This is just a very quick example I threw together but tell me which one of these would jump out at you if you were a Blackops player.

(Please note that I have never even heard of this game so not sure if the actual wording of your headline is strong or not).

One trick I was taught years ago when creating salespages and squeeze pages is to walk back from your computer screen until all the text on the page is blurry. Then look at the page and see which section stands out to your eyes immediately. That is going to be exactly what stands out to your visitors.

It's a little too plain looking in my opinion.

People who play Black Ops 2 expect things to look as advanced as the menus. I would recommend a black color scheme and a more advanced technical looking font.

    Disregard everything you've read here.

None of this will work because...

    You don't understand your market.

Think about who your advertising too... and you will realize why none of this has to do with more testimonials or a better headline... Your just way off on your marketing. It's something a catchy headline or more testimonials isn't going to fix.

You posted here before and although this effort is a lot better than your last. You still didn't use the advice I gave you before. So all I can say is trash it and think about who you are marketing too and why this landing page would never work.

You gave it a good effort to try and help the guy, but unfortunately it has nothing to do with what you gave him advice on.

First off, your sale page needs help! The top 1/5 of the page set-up is not right. The testimonial needs to be moved down the page. The people see that testimonial right away and they don't even know what the page is about yet or what your product can do for them.

I think once you rewrite the headline and move the testimonial and work on the very first part of the page you will get better results.

          Good luck with it.

I agree. The sales page needs to LOOK LIKE THE GAME. If
you look at the Black Ops 2 website you'll see that the
background is black and the text is in white. You also
need to get some more game graphics so your prospects
"feel like they are in the game console". This would go
a long way into selling your message. As mentioned
above, you should also include a video of the game
being played the way your manual teaches.

You don't need a lot of copy to sell a product like
      this.

I'm not sure any waters are being parted here...the concept is 100% true, but its application here is not altogether accurate. The sales copy may have missed the target entirely in quality, but it is at least firing in the correct general direction.

Yep. Worth quoting for emphasis. Need major improvements here.

A few quick observations not already noted above:
        • It appears a family member gave that testimonial >.<
        • Incomplete thoughts
        • Redundant descriptive phrases
        • Attempt to establish credibility as an expert achieves opposite result (due to the copy present on the page, poor design elements, and a general lack of basic marketing elements)
There is simply too much wrong with the page to "correct" it with a few suggestions. From design, to copy, it looks like you are trying to follow a formula, without any basic understanding of the components of said formula. Not trying to be unduly harsh, but it appears your strength may be taking action, but not design, copy, or marketing. Either invest the time into developing these abilities, or outsource to people who already have the skills.

One last suggestion. Turn your guide into the freebie, collect opt-ins (as mentioned above), and then use email follow-ups to market your more comprehensive guide, or link them to a better product through an affiliate network and collect commissions.

        Best regards!

Two tips that will definitely improve your sales:
    1. Pre-sell with a converting squeeze page to capture your leads.
You can always follow up with emails to continue selling your product.
    2. Add a video to your sale page. This will sure increase your sales.

Try them. I am sure you will see improved results.
    Let me know again. Cheers.

Yep, your page seems visually great. But I think you need to promote more and add more media and also try to think as a consumer not someone who is trying to market something. What would a consumer like to see or what are they looking for? Next up is post shouting headlines or provoking contents. And if people are already there, KEEP them there by updating everyday, to keep the dice rolling.

For how many days, and what's the traffic source (is it by any chance all SEO traffic)? I'm asking because I strongly suspect that, in this niche, search engine traffic includes a substantial (perhaps even a very substantial) component of "non-buying traffic" (i.e. people looking only for free information), and that's never going to be very easy to monetize.

Not knowing this game, myself, I can't really add anything to what Will's said above, except that he's excelled himself and you should be noting his posts with great interest. And good luck!

Great points in this thread, but I'd focus on getting more targeted traffic, and hopefully from your list..

generally you need to be better

also it might be your traffic as well, but still converting from 100 visitors its pretty hard, I would expect you to make a sale in 300-400 visitors.

a better traffic source, or try better keywords:

If you rank for: Black Ops 2 Pictures"

its not the same, as ranking for: "Black Ops 2 Guide"

I don't really like the niche to be honest with you. I am a gamer as well, not sure if 3d shooter need as much guidance as an rpg or a strategy game would need.

    Above the fold, I'm bored.

I almost clicked off, but I stopped and asked why first.

I'd underline the word Killer in your testimonial with red.

It'll grab attention to ADD folk like myself and have us wondering,
    WAIT WHAT IS?

Then I'd put a picture of yourself and your pro gamer story at the top
instead of your 'From a Black Ops Pro Gamer' line, it just sounds bs

That'll put a graphic at the bottom of your fold to carry attention downward
into your sales copy. Plus a picture of you makes people relate and builds
rapport seeing that you're a person and not just a wall of sales text.(which it
    looks like now)

after that, you could improve sales copy.. but it's a skill you learn over time,
now's a good time to start learning it.
