I have created a new Worpress website and wonder what are the essential plugins (FREE) that should be installed on the site.

    Every Wordpress site I use / setup always includes the JETPACK plugin connected to wordpres.com with the vast majority of the functionality activated. I also ensure I have Yoast SEO, WP Super Cache, Google Plus Authorship and Social Media Counters.

    I like WPtouch (optimizes for mobile if you site isn't responsive) and Contact Form 7 is a basic but still useful plug-in. Some sort of sharing plugin is helpful, too.
