I just want to ask your opinions about dating sites that

if new dating sites do not have initial profiles, is it likely that

the sites will fail? If so, how are they taking care of this problem?

I just took dating site as an example, but in general membership sites..

I am not starting one, but just wondering how to increase

traffic of membership sites without profiles. Do good SEO and paid-traffic

will take care of this problem? How did it go for your membership sites?

In this case, marketing will increase the visitors to the site, but I don't think

it will increase registration rate

No profiles = no registration. Not sure how it works, but you will need women there for people to sign up. I imagine people use fake profiles to start, and do heavy advertising.

Any kind of membership site (as you describe) will only really get sign-ups if there is something to sign up for. Would you join a dating site that had no dates?

It's the same with many types of sites i.e. car sales, estate agents, holiday rentals etc. Fairly standard practice to scrape ads from other sites to build up "portfolio" so you do not look like a bare site.

    They buy existing, real profiles.

You will need to create a few thousand fake, real looking profiles for certain.

Unless your network reach is within the thousands & you can get real people to participate from day one you launch then there wouldn't be a need.

People only join active sites, if you don't show activity don't expect sign ups.
