Amazon affiliates commission structure

The beginning Amazon's commission rate is 4% and it is 6% if you make 7 or more sales per month. However, according to this (How much does an Amazon Associate make in commission when someone follows an Amazon product link & buys t) consumer electronics are flat 4%.

Does it mean that products like LCD TVs, cell phones or digital cameras have flat commission rate of just 4% and it cannot be higher?

Unfortunately yes, but the conversion-rate more than makes up for it

I'm not exactly sure on how this works, but I believe the commission rate may vary per product. For example, I'm looking at my earnings right now... A pair of headphones got me 4.00% commission, while a microphone system got me 6.00%.

The microphone came from a third party and the headphones came directly from Amazon, so that might explain the difference.

The microphone system was most likely listed in musical instruments instead of electronics.

Yes, most electronics have a referral rate of 4.00%, but my affiliate site promotes laptops. I have sold numerous $1,600 laptops to date. Each laptop I receive a maximum of $25.00 per sale.

So I'm not sure if $25.00 is the max you can receive for a laptop or electronic sale or what. That's way below a 3% referral rate for $1000+ laptops.

$25 is the max you can receive for a laptop (a) advertising fees for all Qualifying Purchases of Products that are personal computers (including without limitation desktops, laptops, notebooks, tablets, and netbooks) are limited to a maximum of $25 per personal computer, regardless of the Qualifying Revenues received from the sale of that Product

You can earn more than the $25 cap on other electronic products.

            To make things more clear:

            a) All items which appear under ELECTRONICS when you click on the ordered products are having 4% no matter how many sales you reached

            b) All laptops are having a 4% commission but no more than 25.00$

            c) Magazine subscriptions are having a 25% commission

            d) AMAZON instant videos are having a 10% commission no more than $1.50

            e) All the other products receive a commission between 4 and 8% as it follows:

            1. 1-6 products/month: 4%
            2. 7-30 products/month: 6%
            3. 31-110 products/month: 6.50%
            4. 111-320 products/month: 7.00%
            5. 321-630 products/month: 7.50%
            6. 631-1570 products/month: 8.00%
            7. 1571-3130 products/month: 8.25%
            8. 3131+ products/month: 8.50%

IMPORTANT: The final commission fees are calculated at the end of the month and everything goes back to 0 on the first day of each month.

            Hope it helps

I think you should not underestimate the 4% commission rate for electronic product. Many people struggle to get 6% commission outside the electronic product, too bad because they are promoting cheap product. Almost every electronic product from Amazon is quite expensive so I advice you to keep the hard work on promoting electronic product rather than cheap product, same effort with more commission.
