How do you find out if an eBook title is available?

I imagine they are copyrighted (!?) - so before I get much further in designing a cover, figured it might be a good time to ask.

the easiest way to avoid similarities in your eBook title is by adding the author name a.k.a your name in your book tittle. once you have find out the tittle of your book, you should compare your book title with eBook directories. you can also search in kindle amazon about the competitors of your eBook, and write a better tittle from that simple observation.

Check to see if the domain is available, if not, then there's a good chance it is not copyrighted. Next go to the U.S copyright catalog and check to make sure http://cocatalog.loc.gov/

Well, that was interesting. No titles matched the public catalogs, the .net is available, but there was a rather close one on Kindle Amazon... big differences in niches though, as the other book looks like one of those romance/sex novels, lol.

Not to give the title away here, but it does contain I.M. in the title, whereas the other book with almost the same exact title was I'm and used in different context, obviously.

You should check, but it is my understanding that no one can copyright a title.
Put a few popular books into Google and you will see multiple listings, however, doing so may assist you in selecting a title which is not already being used and hopefully will add to your success. Good luck!

Honesty I've done my research in the past and I recall you can't copy right a title. A manuscript yes. Title no.

Ran into another small issue. One of the pen names I use on EZA was going to be the one used on this book, but apparently... a kindle writer has 8 books published using this exact name as a character in her books.
