They can, but to be honest I have always preferred building blogs the old fashioned way and adding content manually. I suppose if you have an auto blog and actively market it though you can get traffic - but if you are hoping for search engine spots this will not be so good.

Very well said. 100% correct. They is no two ways about it cause even if you automate the process your content still has to be very unique if you want steady organic traffic from google and other search engines.

Now Google is getting smarter, will not deliver traffic to the autoblogs. So you need manually add content to a blog.

However, you still can attract traffic to the autoblogs manually.

    Autoblog runs like RSS.
It does have traffic from google..
    But not consistent.
Beside this, autoblog works well on
trendy niche such as IT, fashion,
    gossips, entertainment.

It will not work well in evergreen niche
such as golf, fitness, personnel development.

Why does it work on IT and Entertainment sites? Do you have any example sites that are autoblogs that get good traffic in those niches?

Try spin the content, look at Yahoo pipes to combine sources (content, youtube, images) and make it a bit unique in the eyes of Google

Yahoo Pipes sounds confusing. Any good tutorials for pipes?

I've got one autoblog and I'm getting rid of it. The software that I use to populate the blog with content works exactly as advertised, but despite some SEO effort on my part the blog gets virtually no traffic. Can't talk about others' experiences, but for me autoblogging is a dead-end. (As, really, it should be.)

I cant imagine something someone sets up, does minimal marketing to, and forgets about right after, making anyone a decent income.

Whatever happened to building a business you could be proud of, something you could stand behind and something you'd be happy to promote every day.

Business isn't a hit an run strategy, it's a process and it takes effort. Auto blogs in my opinion are the lazy mans way of being broke.

My 3 step guide on being broke

    1. Setup an auto blog
    2. forget about autoblog in previous step
    3. Cry yourself to sleep and wonder why you aren't rich

You know what does work and always will
    1. have a great offer, a product, a service, something you can sell
    2. Find people who want, like or need what you are selling
    3. Advertise to them

You just said it all. There is no lazy way to make quick money. You need to have an offer and be ready to advertise to those who need it.

It depends on what type of blogs. For me, I do autoblogging on tumblr and it really helps in traffic.

Autoblogs came out not so long ago as a way to get a lot of traffic to one's site. I think it was a successful way, however with Google's Panda update, I believe it's no longer as effective as it was before.

No, they are not dead, and yes, you can build a quality autoblog as well. It depends on the content you feed your blog with.

I'm seeing some guys here who I respect and have purchased products from in the past saying that autoblogs are a waste of time and I totally agree.
Start building that business on a sound footing and put a bit of sweat into it.

It's an old strategy that is no longer worth the time. I've tried it extensively with 50 autoblogs using a couple of different autoblog plugins and different setups and the results were disappointing. Some traffic came initially but eventually it would taper off. Not worth the time or money. Search engines are too smart for it. And the small traffic that they did get was extremely low quality and too difficult to monetise.

AutoBlog does't work if you are looking to rank based on the AutoContent. But it can be used to add lot of value to you site. For example you can create your blog in general niche (not micro niche) and create categories with fresh content that you add. Than you can create a a page for autofeed content. Spin it and manually review it before posting and integrate it with social media using services like hootsute.

I used autoblogs last year to generate adsense income and made a decent amount of money with it.

Sadly, the google zoo is cracking down on them, so I would recommend building a *real* blog with good content.

Autoblogs operate on a numbers game strategy. Each will get very little traffic. Your job is to combine the small streams into a mighty river.

To build autoblogs and get traffic definetly is possible. I own some autoblogs which get about 200 visits per day without any off page SEO done. But they don't convert that good, you will definetly make more money, get more visitors and sell more products from high quality "manual" blogs.

I have about 50 or so... and they get VERY little traffic from the search engines.

They used to get more before Panda and Penguin slapped them.

    But....

I have all their RSS feeds connected to FriendFeed, Dlvr.it, and with plug-ins to deliver the auto-posts to my thousands of Twitter followers, Facebook friends, Linkedin contacts, Tumblr friends, even Myspace friends... so mine do still get traffic that way, but not so much from search engines anymore....

I do have a lot of auto blogs but then what it doesn't even get any traffic due to duplicate content. So, best is to drop your own unique content and make it interesting. It might take a long time but surely you will get there and get traffic as long as they are interesting and appealing to your audience.

Autoblogs still work but I would highly advise building quality contents for websites. Content marketing is the way to go.

Autoblogs are not worth it. If you want to make real money, invest the time into creating original quality posts. It doesn't need to take that long and those posts could bring you ongoing traffic for a long time.

I believe auto blog would still work and make money if the auto part is auto feed quality and unique content. Once an auto blog pages get ranked on #1 you will make money-

Auto blogs do get traffic, but not so much from GoOgle these days.

My auto blogs (about 20 or so in different niches) get traffic mainly from the social sites I have the new posts get automatically sent out to.

There are free plug-ins that will automatically send out your new posts to Twitter, StumbleUpon, Delicious, Google + and others... The main one I use is NextScripts: Social Networks Auto-Poster (SNAP) plug-in.

Another free plug-in to help you get traffic to any WP blog is Tweetily.

You can also use IFTTT (dot) com (free account) to hook up your RSS feed from your auto-blog to be delivered to social sites as well. Another site to do this dlvr.it (also free up to a certain point).

If you have lots of followers on social sites, such as Twitter, Facebook, StumbleUpon, Tumblr, etc. and have your auto-blog set up to send out new posts automatically using the tools I mentioned, you will get traffic.

I'm guessing that you're looking for the most *convenient* answer as a reason to do autoblogs.

My advice is not to build autoblogs, and just start 1 serious legit business model until it makes you financially stable.... to the point where you don't have to work anymore.

I run a handful of autoblogs and they all get traffic and all make me money. That said, I don't use RSS and I don't rely on Google/SEO for traffic.
