Can Google Spy On My Videos?

This may sound overly-simple but I've been reading so much about how much traffic one can get from just making a short video and posting it on Youtube. Been seeing that for a long, long time.

But, what I can't wrap my head around is, how does Google rank them? I mean, I don't put much past Google and their "powers," but it's not possible that they can have a way of knowing what words are actually said in the video.

Can they?

Is it just by the title and any keywords and description entered when one submits it to Youtube that makes Google's decision on whether or not to add it their results? Or is there something I am totally overlooking?

    They rank by keywords in your headline, description and the backlinks that point to your video.

    They have web crawlers or is web spiders that does the work for them.

        YouTube is Google.

        No idea if that specific info is used by the search engines but if it's available it's likely it be at some time.

        For YouTube ranking a major factor is likely to be views. It's easy to tell if video is good simply by the number of views it gets.

        Let the viewers analyses the content

    Keywords in file name, description, title and tags.
    Links pointing at video.
    Video views.

    Remember Youtube is owned by Google so they can 'see' everything.

      @OP YES! Youtube can understand the content of your video, as the software now automatically translates your spoken content for the purposes of closed captions. In saying that, it is important to take full control of those captions by doing it yourself as described here >

    I can rank any video for any keyword using those factors.

    Google is only a machine that detects what a video is all about through the title, tags and description.

    Ofcourse, YouTube have teams that manually scrutinize new videos or updated ones..

    This happens quickly and quite efficient thou..

    It's ESP wooooo....

    Only kidding. They don't. If you annotate your video, or put words into the description for the video, they use that. So it's important that those areas have the right keywords.
