Good Idea ... Bad Idea

Good idea, I will make a website like fiverr , no no, ... something like ebay, ... no no something like ...

Last Monday, An idea hit me to make a website for a specific country similar to a site here in US, the idea sounded amazing for the first while, people needed, why in 2013 there is no site yet offer similar service ?! I can even add more features. It rocks.

I took it seriously found a script, programmer, web designer, and was running to find a domain name and then I talked to a close friend from that country (I used to live there as well). He liked the idea but asked me one question, did you consider x factor ? and it was really shocking.

One question made me realize what is wrong with my idea, I considered many factors but I missed one, probably the most important one (I tried to look up a solution for this issue, but nothing came up so far), and it made me realize why there is no website in that country provide this service. Yes, not every good idea out there is a good idea, it can be terrible idea if you don't think it through.

Website like eBay is very successful in many countries, but in a country where credit card companies don't provide any protection against identity theft, a lot of fear of using credit card, and on the top of that companies like paypal limit their service. What is your odd to get it doing well ?

We all come with ideas, sometimes we are over protective of that idea.

The truth is, you can't judge your own idea until you put into testing. You can spend thousands of dollars implement it first, or have a little chat about it with people to find out if it worth investing time and money. It is your call

Most of those countries don't have much access to internet. In NK and Cuba it's very controlled and they can only access websites deemed fit by the Governments plus most people can't afford it anyway. In Burma basically no one has net access due to the high cost thanks to international sanctions. In Iran the internet is heavily controlled and there's also the issue of sanctions, Ebay probaby isn't allowed to operate there. Sudan I imagine not many people have net access. Syria I don't know much about their net situation.

Keep trying. If you give up then maybe you wont ever know if it could of worked.
