Out of all your online income streams is any of them 80-100% recurring and/or auto pilot?

I never know exactly what people mean by "true passive income", and some experience of such conversations has taught me that what some people think is "passive income" I really think isn't "true passive income" at all.

I have some copies of articles "out there" which I wrote 3-4 years ago which have continued to bring me customers every single month since they were published, but I don't really consider that to be "true passive income" because I still have to "do stuff" to earn the money: maintain my sites, make sure my autoresponder's working, check that the products are still for sale, and so on.

So, I'm going to stick my neck out and say "no": I don't really have any "true passive income".

    Do you, Greg?

i put some money into a forex scheme i found on wf

it doubled in a year or so

after initial payment i did zero but receive emails daily, often i did not bother to read

the scheme was reorganised and i received my total sum back with no problems whatsoever

interestingly i did note he advertised on wf recently but the message was removed in short time

    pity, it worked

Madoff's clients said exactly the same, for many, many years. They recommended him - that was how he built up the business with constant new investors, and paid people out. Until one day he couldn't. I'm - literally - "just saying"!

    Hello All...

A truly 100% passive income stream is very hard to come by, especially through IM methods.

Even a profitable website or blog still needs to have ongoing marketing and content creations. You could outsource everything, but would still have to verify that things are getting done and getting done correctly.

Will the percentage figure of those who answer in the affirmative, influence or help you in any way with your business? I doubt it because a recurring income stream in someone else's business has no relationship or bearing on the business you may be involved in. And if it does, well you then have to ask them precisely how they are accomplishing this if you want to attempt to replicate it. Will they tell you? . . . probably not.

I really don't like "true passive income" because I always need something to do, always need action. But I have some affiliate which I am not taken care of anymore because they don't perfrom so well, but still make me some money.

I would consider them as true passive income since I never touch them or check their stats.

Yes, but it has taken me some time to build it.

I consider it passive because I don't have to work on it any more, but I do because I want the income amount to get bigger. I get paid for the work other people are doing, and as they build their business and income it builds mine also. It's the first link in my sig if you are interested.

I can't call it totally passive, what is, but I have a recurring mostly passive income from dating affiliate programs. I've been doing it for years and most people stay for a long long long time once they become a member.

If you mean by "true passive income" is a way to generate revenue from online business without moving any finger to work on it, I think nobody have that. even online business will need to be managed, organized, reported, evaluated, assessed, and require some to keep the maintenance up.

I learn about passive income in a hard way. I lost my money in some scheme and after that i realize that there is no passive income when we act passive. You have to actively monitor your business progress to get a passive income.

Absolutely i'm totally agree with your post but monitoring is the not only way to bring passive income unless if you try hard techniques.

If you need a auto pilot income stream probably you should use affiliate programs and website flipping. From Affiliates you could earn unlimited income stream, and from website flipping you could earn more than you expected in your dream.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[7833039].message }}
  • Yes, I have some passive online income, though it only amounts to a couple hundred bucks a month. I don't touch the site, ever. No editing. No linking or promotion. Don't toil with the autoresponder. Sure, I pay hosting and aweber, but those are automated payments.

It all just sits there and the only time I even think about it is when an email hits my account saying I got another commission (oh what a feeling!) or got paid (even better!).

So, I always find it strange when online marketers say passive income isn't possible at all. I haven't even really tried much, and it seems to be possible at least on a small scale for me.

Don't get me wrong, I do get the point, but saying it's completely impossible and that truly passive income doesn't exist seems to be a bit overboard.

I also find issue with those who say it's not passive because it took work to set up. Hmmm...I don't follow. So you're essentially saying it isn't passive now because effort was needed to get the ball rolling in the beginning? Again, I get your intention when you say stuff like that, but it really seems to be a matter of overdoing the semantics.

That said, if I took a proactive approach to that site rather than passive, I believe the income would increase tenfold, at least. So, there's that...

I have a real passive income source that has come from websites I set up for people in an industry I am affiliated with but no longer work with.

I set up around 25 sites over 3 years ago and I still have 17 paying me £69.00 a month with has been the same price for the last 3 years. I dont do anything to the sites apart from updates as they are on wordpress.

I charged each one £375.00 for setup and used the first design for all the others so that the design money was all for nothing. The hosting is with HG I pay $25 a month.

Sometimes the clients ask for changes to the copy and I charge £50 an hour to do that. I offered SEO but they didn't seem to want it and quite frankly I didnt want to push these guys as they aren't web savvy.

If I needed recurring income I would infiltrate an industry as I have done here and get on their forum to make myself known, do some websites as priced above and start to build from there. I never drive people mad with selling but help enough for them to click my signature and see the sites for themselves, nice and passive, let them buy.

I do know that the site renters are in up to their ears because I gave them free reports on how to promote their sites and they are so well established that they wouldn't cancel them now there are probably too scared too.

I had someone at Christmas who was asking for lots of free services as he had been speaking to an "SEO Consultant" who had obviously put big ideas into his head. I said I could it for him and quoted. The SEO guy as a fraction of the price and my client said he wanted to cancel. I mentioned that I would be reselling the site and he remains a client still.

A very good business model. I wrote a WSO on this but still haven't got around to publishing it.

    Regards

    Ed

I own the design and copy on most of them so I can backbuddy and move them to a new client if I need to . I also own the majority of the domains.

This has produced a nice income stream over the last 3 years.

the 3 best types of models which you have a certain amount of passive income are

your own products which you put out into cyber space

your own membership site which pays you month after month

and your list building as long as you have messages going out at set intervals

    i have all of these

if i were to not work on my business over the next 30 days i will still make a nice amount of money because of my membership site income, my products and income from my emails because my traffic is on auto-pilot

in my opinion a membership site is something which you really need to seriously think about creating at some stage when you are experienced enough, it's a fantastic income model

I have a bunch of banner placements on high traffic sites that make me passive income, but those ads can eventually become stale.

I have web properties that rank well in Google and make me money passively, but the next update and algorithm change can wipe those out.

I have ppc campaigns running right now that make me passive income, but the service provider can turn around and shut my account down or the vendor who's product I'm selling could go out of business or pull their site down.

So not true passive income, but passive enough.

If you want true passive income, invest in income producing real estate like apartment complexes or something. Or invest in dividend yielding stocks.

Niche review websites can be pretty passive. There are WP updates, but aside from that I have a couple that I haven't touched since I set them up (with three CB affiliate reviews each) and they throw off a few hundred dollars each month.

I have one (a marketing-oriented hosting site) that has been spitting out steady income since 2002 with no promotion whatsoever. I have just begun advertising again, as the income has fallen 75% in the past ten years, and I'm looking to rebuild.

I would say my "true passive income" is from my Hubpages. I wrote them a couple of years ago when they were liked by the search engines.

I haven't touched them since and most have lost their rankings but I still get an Adsense cheque every couple of months and a few Amazon commissions here and there.

Right now I am just having fun learning all about it. Don't get me wrong I am making money online but on on auto pilot just yet.

My best source of passive income is promoting recurring commission products with low churn rate. This is only passive when you generate at least the same volume or higher of sales each month than people who drop the service (software in my case).

I have a funnel set up where I sell more new subscriptions each month than people drop the service so it's really passive income. I do publish 1 to 4 blog posts on this blog each month.

SEO can be passive, but you can't count on it for years. It may generate income for years, but it may not.

Despite having some passive income sources, I continue working fairly hard. I'm not sitting on the beach 11 months of the year collecting checks.
